Chapter 162 Inari Divine Fox

Chapter 162 Inari Divine Fox

"By the way, Bai Jie, who are those two foxes?" Walnut suddenly changed the subject, his eyes filled with resentment. Ever since Fu Zi Xiang Tai appeared, he has always been paired with these two foxes, even though he doesn't know them at all.

"Well, you'll see when the time comes," Bai Jie coughed lightly.

Walnut pouted, "The same answer again..."

Seeing that Walnut was a little unhappy, Bai Jie scratched his head helplessly. There was really no way to explain it, since Walnut hadn't arrived yet, but it should be soon.

Bai Jie recalled that there was a main storyline related to walnuts in chapter 200 of the original work, so he and Fu Zai's appearance must have been in the first few dozen chapters. The script has now progressed to roughly that point, and Fu Zai should appear in the next month or two.

Just as Bai Jie had expected, two Inari foxes soon appeared in their lives, and in a very familiar way.

……

On the first day of school, inside the classroom...

The mythical beast Xie Zhi, accompanied by two small white foxes, stepped onto the podium. "Classmates," Xie Zhi announced, "these two are new transfer students from Japan who will be attending our class from now on."

"Kongnijiwa!" The two foxes bowed their heads together. They looked almost identical, both being pure white little foxes. The only difference was that the girl among them had squinty eyes.

"Another new classmate? Could it be two more mythical beasts?"

"I do not know."

"Our new classmates look so alike, are they twins?"

"There are triplets behind them."

"Those don't seem to be triplets, they're twins with a younger brother."

A murmur rippled through the audience as students whispered amongst themselves. Walnut stared at the two foxes on stage, a puzzled look in her eyes. "They look so familiar... Walnut, haven't I seen them somewhere before?"

Bai Jie clearly heard Walnut's mutterings. He grinned and finally agreed, "Ah, indeed, I also think it looks familiar."

"Silence." The Xie Zhi shouted coldly, instantly silencing the growing commotion. He looked at the two white foxes and softened his voice, "Introduce yourselves to the students."

"Hi!" the two foxes answered in unison, then turned to face the audience.

The squinty-eyed female fox spoke first, "My name is Fuzai, and I am the Inari fox spirit of the Inari Shrine in Japan. Please take care of me from now on!"

Walnut, who was sitting in the audience with a suspicious look on his face, shuddered and opened his mouth wide. Before he could exclaim, another fox spoke up, "My name is Shota, I am Fuzai's older brother, and I am also an Inari fox. Please take care of me in the future."

"Mwah!" A terrified scream suddenly rang out, and the two Inari foxes and the whole class looked over. Walnut subconsciously covered his mouth.

"What's wrong?" Xie Zhi asked as he stepped down from the podium.

Walnut covered his mouth and shook his head repeatedly, his expression still showing lingering fear. He hadn't recognized the two Inari foxes at first, but after hearing their names, he realized they were the two foxes from Bai Jie's dream. If he imagined red petals and maple leaf patterns on their faces, they would look exactly the same.

Seeing that Walnut wouldn't say, Xie Zhi didn't ask any more questions and returned to the podium. Then, he arranged seats for the two Inari foxes.

There were only seats left in the back row of the classroom, but those seats meant either sitting next to a python several meters long or having a giant octopus behind you. Separating the brother and sister was clearly inappropriate.

The Xie Zhi rearranged the seats, with Xiang Nini sitting in the last row by the window, which filled two empty seats. Yue Tian was moved to sit next to the Black Snake, since the kid was bold. Then the three Pi Xiu brothers sat in the last row in the middle, leaving two empty seats next to Walnut.

……

"Mwah mwah mwah! Walnut doesn't want to be separated from Baijie Tianlu!" Walnut clung tightly to Baijie with one claw and pulled at Tianlu with the other, crying loudly.

Bai Jie couldn't tell whether he was reluctant to leave or unwilling to sit at the same table with the two Inari foxes, since the three of them had appeared in his dreams quite often, even causing Walnut to have a stress reaction.

"Walnut, they are brothers after all, so it's better for brothers to sit together. Besides, my brother and I will definitely treat you very well if we sit next to you," Fuzi said softly.

Walnut glanced at her, then hurriedly lowered its head and muttered softly, "Mwah...walnut...walnut just doesn't want it!"

Seeing this, Shota also came up to persuade him, "Walnut-kun, I..."

"Fox, get away!"

Walnut's attitude suddenly changed 180 degrees. Shota's words, which he had just begun, were abruptly cut off. He remained frozen in place, his mouth slightly open.

The district... is discriminating against us?!

Bai Jie almost burst out laughing, but managed to keep his expression straight by forcing himself to.

You can't laugh, you can't laugh, it will deduct your merits.

"Sigh, then you brothers can sit separately?" Xie Zhi sighed and looked helplessly at the three Pixiu. Bai Jie didn't say anything, Bi Xie was a little disappointed, but Tian Lu shouted out directly, "Uh? But I want to sit with Bai Jie and Bi Xie."

"Tianlu~" Walnut turned her head, tears welling up in her eyes as she looked at him. Tianlu was speechless for a moment. "Uh, don't cry!"

Seeing that Walnut was about to miss out on the two Inari foxes by crying and making a fuss, Bai Jie, a CP fan, finally couldn't sit still. He whispered in Walnut's ear in a voice that only the two beasts could hear, "Walnut, that was just a dream of mine. It definitely won't be like that in reality."

Upon hearing this, Walnut gripped its paws even tighter and looked up at Baijie intently. "Hey, how does Baijie know two foxes?"

He didn't lower his voice deliberately, and all the beasts around could hear him. Fu-zai and Xiang-tai looked at him with curiosity, while Tian-lu Bi-xie looked on with suspicion.

When did Bai Jie get to know Japanese foxes? How come they don't know?

"Uh... class is about to start, let's not delay everyone's studies, let's talk about it later." Bai Jie didn't know how to explain, so he simply brushed it off for now.

After some persuasion, Walnut reluctantly agreed to sit next to the two Inari foxes, but he soon regretted it.

After the winter break, the whole class moved up to the fifth grade. After collecting the winter break homework, Xie Zhi returned to the podium to start teaching. The students, who had just finished their holiday, were still playful and would occasionally make some noise, only to be hit by a basketball and cry out in pain.

Walnut felt uneasy all over and couldn't help but sharpen his claws on the desk. The two Inari foxes sitting next to him made him restless, and the scenes he had experienced in Bai Jie's dream floated into his mind.

At the wedding, Fu-zai blushed and said "I do," when Xiang-tai suddenly rushed onto the stage and shouted, "I'm going to steal your bride!"

On a lawn, Shota said to Oleander in a serious tone, "Uncle, give me the walnuts, and I will definitely make him happy!"

In another scene, he's with two foxes. Fuzai smiles and says, "Shota-kun is serious and capable, a perfect fit for a job. Walnut... well, he's cute, perfect as a gigolo. I'll take care of you from now on."

Walnut's ears turned red, and suddenly she wanted to grab Baijie by the collar and shake him violently, questioning him why she had such a dream.

How embarrassing!!

……

The class period flew by, and the moment the bell rang, Walnut felt as if she had been granted a pardon.

"Want to play together after class?" Fuzai wagged its tail and invited cheerfully, but Walnut didn't even look at her, grabbed Baijie and dashed out of the classroom like a shot. "No need, Muji!" Tianlu Bixie was stunned for a moment and then hurriedly chased after her.

As the four beasts disappeared outside the door, Fuzai stopped wagging her tail, stared blankly for two seconds, and then sat back down in her chair, looking a little unhappy.

"Don't be angry, Fu-zai. There might really be some misunderstanding. We'll explain it away later." Shota was still very well-mannered; despite being treated differently, he was still able to patiently comfort her.

Fu-zai nodded, his spirits lifted somewhat.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Walnut pulled Baijie to a deserted corner of the teaching building, where Tianlu Bixie followed closely behind.

"Bai Jie, how exactly do you know those two foxes?" As soon as they stopped, Walnut turned around and questioned him, his attitude suggesting that Bai Jie wouldn't give up until he explained something.

Tianlu Bixie also stared intently at Baijie. The past events had put them on high alert, fearing that their younger brother might meet some strange beasts outside.

When interrogated by his brother and best friend, Bai Jie turned his head away, unsure how to explain. He couldn't bring himself to confront them directly; he hadn't gotten over his own conscience. If he tried to gloss over it, things would probably get even worse when Walnut and Fu Zi Xiang Tai joined the crew.

"Hmm... just consider this as me having glimpsed the future." After pondering for a while, Bai Jie gave this answer.

Tianlu Bixie fell into deep thought, recalling past events. Baijie had indeed appeared many times as if he knew the future in advance.

"What? Peeking into the future?" Walnut tilted its head, its not-so-bright brain working, when suddenly it realized something and looked horrified. "Then wouldn't all the dreams in the Hundred Interpretations be scenes of the future? Including that wedding..."

"No!" Bai Jie shouted, interrupting Walnut, startling Walnut so much that its fur stood on end.

"Wedding? What wedding?" Tianlu Bixie snapped out of his daze and asked suspiciously upon hearing this.

Walnut opened his mouth as if to answer, but a furry paw instantly reached out and blocked his mouth. Not only that, Walnut felt a weight on his body as Bai Jie straddled him, and another paw reached out and struck his throat.

"Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!"

"What's wrong?" Tianlu asked, completely bewildered.

"It was just a dream, whatever!" Bai Jie managed to say in a moment, barely suppressing his anger.

Tianlu wanted to ask more, but Bixie stopped him, saying, "Don't ask anymore, do you want that too?"

"Uh..." Tianlu looked at Walnut, whose eyes were rolling back in his head from being choked, and reluctantly... shut up.
