Chapter 122 The Substitute Little Princess 9
Chapter 122 The Substitute Little Princess 9
Edward looked at the little black snake in his hand with fierce eyes. He didn't know where this snake came from. He thought it was a docile and harmless little thing, but who would have thought that it just bared its teeth at Chris. It seemed that this beast could not be kept.
The system's two small eyes were pinched so hard that they almost popped out.
A pair of soft hands shook Edward's arm, "Edward, can you let it go?"
Edward looked at those clear eyes and loosened his hand. The system immediately shrank behind Tao Yao in fear.
Tao Yao glared at it out of the corner of her eye. The cowardly little creature was usually not so obedient to her. It seemed that she was too nice to it.
Taoyao looked at Edward with pleading eyes, her light green eyeballs like glass balls, sparkling with a faint light.
"I want to go find my mother, brother, can you accompany me?"
There was a soft tone mixed with playful coquettishness, and Edward's heart, which had been silent for a long time, trembled violently.
Tao Yao looked at Edward's blushing earlobes and shook her head secretly. Edward was such a young and cute child.
"Okay, I'll take you there."
Edward picked up Taoyao and put her on the wheelchair. He put a thick plush coat on Taoyao. Her snow-white face was wrapped in the soft fur. She looked sweet and lovely. Her cheeks were like ripe red apples, green and innocent.
Molly outside the door saw Edward pushing Taoyao out, and she stepped forward to stop Edward in confusion.
"Edward, where are you taking the young lady?"
Edward looked at Molly with a cold and handsome face and arrogant eyes, then spat out two words indifferently.
"Go away."
Molly was frightened by Edward's cold eyes. Just now when she pleaded for Angel, Edward looked at her with this kind of eyes, which was completely different from the way he looked at the young lady. The way he looked at the young lady was gentle, with warmth and emotion.
"Edward, you can't take the young lady out. It's too dangerous outside. If something happens to the young lady, the lady will blame you when she comes back."
Edward's patience only exists when facing Tao Yao. He is always indifferent and even full of disgust towards other insignificant people.
"Go away, and don't make me say it a third time, Molly."
Molly felt extremely aggrieved. She didn't expect Edward to ask her to get out. Although she was a noble lady and Edward should respect and love her, she and Edward were of equal status, so why was Edward so mean to her?
"Edward, the lady will be back soon. You can't do this. Even if I don't stop you, the housekeeper won't let you take the lady away."
Edward was on the verge of anger. Tao Yao was afraid that the two would quarrel. If they delayed any further, Catherine would be protected by the old duke, and that would be counterproductive.
"Sister Molly, I want to go out for some fresh air. Brother Edward said he would push me out to watch the sunrise. We won't run around. Don't worry, I won't tell Mom."
Molly's expression improved when she saw Tao Yao speak. She was afraid that if the young lady was taken out by Edward and got hurt, what would happen if the lady came back and blamed her? To be frank, she and Edward were just the young lady's servants, and if something happened to the young lady, their fate would not be good either.
"Then go ahead. I'm just worried what if there are other people like Angel who want to hurt you, young lady."
Tao Yao smiled gently at her soothingly, "It's okay, Sister Molly, I believe Brother Edward will protect me."
The ice and snow on Edward's face melted away instantly. He would definitely protect Chris and not let her get hurt. He was Chris's brother and Chris was his fragile princess.
Edward pushed her, and Tao Yao instructed Edward according to the location given by the system, and he successfully got rid of the servants and escaped from the hospital.
On the other side, in the orphanage, Catherine cried and told the old duke who was sitting there about her hardships.
"Your Excellency, I personally raised every child here. I care for and love them more than anyone else. I wonder who has bewitched Miss Anna. She actually accused me of killing innocent lives and violating the centuries-old reputation of the VON family. Even if I were to swear an oath before God with my blood, I, Catherine, can prove my innocence."
The old duke sighed, a trace of disgust flashed across his cloudy eyes. He had chosen Catherine to manage the orphanage because he saw the ambition and desire hidden in Catherine's eyes.
He needed such a person to allow this orphanage to contribute to the honor of the VON family, but today he began to doubt his original decision. Is Catherine, who puts profit above all else, really suitable for this position?
Seeing that Catherine was still quibbling, Anna put aside all her sadness and began to persuade the old Duke not to let Catherine succeed. If she really persuaded her father, the children in this orphanage would probably have to live in dire straits.
"Catherine, your blood will only defile the holy land. God will not allow someone as sinful as you to repent. You are simply afraid of losing your current rights. You don't deserve to say that you love every child here. Dad, please put aside your prejudice against me and don't be blinded by this treacherous villain."
Anna lowered her head and suddenly knelt in front of the old duke. The old duke held his hands at his sides, suppressing the urge to help her up.
The housekeeper beside her wanted to help Anna up with a distressed look on her face. "Miss, why are you doing this? The ground is so wet and cold. Your knees will hurt. Get up quickly."
Anna smiled bitterly and shook her head, "Butler, don't worry about me, I'm fine. If my concession and apology can make my father change his mind, then I am willing to kneel."
The old duke coughed angrily. "Anna, are you trying to threaten me? Do you know what you're doing? From childhood to adulthood, your entire family has cherished you like a treasure, and today, for the sake of what you call justice, you're going to nail the entire family to the pillar of shame."
"Father, I know you're worried that if all this is revealed, the VON family will lose its former glory, but I can't bear to watch these children live in darkness. Please forgive my selfishness."
When the old prince heard the word "father", his heart felt as if it was pierced by a needle. Among his children, except Anna who called her "Dad", the rest of them called him "Father", and this title always carried a layer of coldness.
Just when the old duke was in trouble, Edward came pushing Taoyao.
"Mother."
When Anna heard the familiar voice, tears couldn't stop falling. She wiped away her tears with the back of her hand in panic. She didn't want her daughter to see her so weak and incompetent.
"Chris, why are you here?"
Taoyao's warm little hand rested on the back of her cold hand, "Mom, Chris is here to accompany you. I miss you."
