Chapter 118 The Substitute Little Princess 5
Chapter 118 The Substitute Little Princess 5
Golden sunlight sprinkled on the grass. Taoyao looked at the children playing in the distance. Anna was afraid that she would be bored, so the children who were selected yesterday were not sent away, but stayed in the hospital to accompany her.
Tao Yao was sitting in a wheelchair, and none of the children dared to approach her. After what happened to Angel yesterday, these children thought of Tao Yao as a broken porcelain doll. They gathered together, the boys were playing football, and the girls were dressing up dolls, with innocent smiles on their faces.
Angel was wearing a maid's outfit and standing next to the dessert table in the scorching sun.
Her poisonous eyes kept looking back and forth at Tao Yao. It was all the fault of this dead kid. If it weren't for her, she would never have been discovered yesterday. She had a thirty-year-old soul in her body. How could she not be defeated by a ten-year-old kid?
The little white snake in Taoyao's arms was lazily wrapped around her wrist, basking in the sun.
The system raised its middle finger at the little guy with disdain. This stinky snake that only cared about pleasure had actually taken over its place.
The system blinked its green eyes in grievance, trying to gain sympathy from Taoyao.
"Fox spirit, I want a body too."
Tao Yao touched the slippery scales of the little white snake and rolled her eyes at the system without any hesitation. Every time she gave it a body, it would eat itself into a truck. It was such a waste of its points.
"I reject."
When the system saw Taoyao buying a body for it, it lay on the ground and started rolling around.
"I don't care. I want my body too. I want it."
Tao Yao was speechless at its shamelessness, but finally compromised and rubbed her temples.
"Okay, I'll buy it for you. Stop pretending to be pathetic."
Seeing that its goal had been achieved, the system quickly got up from the ground.
It glanced at the little white snake in Taoyao's arms and said, "I want a body like it."
Edward didn't fit in with the other children around him. He stood quietly beside Tao Yao.
"Edward, aren't you going to play with them?"
Edward shook his head. He was wearing a clean white shirt and his golden hair was combed up. Tao Yao had not carefully observed his appearance yesterday. She only knew that he was very handsome. But when she saw him up close today, she found that Edward's eyes were very beautiful.
He has a pair of blue eyes, the color of the sea, sparkling in the sunlight. Edward has deep facial features and a melancholy look in his eyes.
"I don't like playing football."
Taoyao felt that Edward was a little strange. He had a maturity that was different from other children of his age. He was mature and reserved, like an elegant gentleman, while other children of his age were lively and active and would get dirty.
"So what do you like to play?"
Edward didn't say anything else. Taoyao felt a little bored, although Anna was kind and wanted her to play with children of the same age to relax.
But she was still too naive. These children were only afraid of her, afraid that if they accidentally angered her, they would become servants like Angel.
These children came from an orphanage. They had grown up looking at other people's faces. It was normal for them to weigh the pros and cons. Tao Yao did not find it strange.
Edward, who was standing by, saw her yawn and came over to push her.
"I'll take you back to your room."
Edward pushed her into the room. Usually, the servants would carry her to bed. The servants following behind were about to come over and carry Taoyao to bed.
The next second, Edward had carried her from the wheelchair to the bed. He carefully put her on the bed, covered her with the quilt, and placed the little bear knight on her bed next to her pillow.
"Go to sleep, Chris."
It was the first time Taoyao heard someone pronounce the three words "Chris" so beautifully.
Taoyao fell into a deep sleep. Edward, who was standing beside the bed, saw a ray of golden sunlight slipping in through the curtains and shining on Chris's milky skin. Even the fine hairs on her cheeks could be seen.
Her reddish-brown hair lay obediently on the snow-white pillowcase, and her red mouth reminded him of the cherries on the cherry tree in the orphanage. The cherries on that tree were sour and astringent, and few people would eat them.
Although it can be used to make jam, no one usually cares about it because it is too troublesome. Edward often sits under the tree and watches the cherries on the tree fall into the soil one by one.
Seeing that Edward was sitting by the bed and not leaving, the servant whispered a reminder to him.
"Ms. Chris, I don't like to be disturbed when I'm resting."
After the servant finished speaking, he thought Edward would obediently go out, but he did not move. He glanced at the servant who was speaking coldly, his eyes full of oppression. The servant felt a cold air rushing into the soles of her feet, freezing her as if she was in ice and snow with a temperature of more than ten degrees below zero.
In the dim room, a blond boy held a Bible in his hand, and the girl on the bed fell into a sweet dream.
Tao Yao woke up in a daze, and the first thing she saw when she opened her eyes was Edward's handsome face.
Because she had just woken up, her voice was hoarse and soft, "Edward, can you give me a glass of water? I'm so thirsty."
Edward put down the Bible in his hand, poured her a glass of warm water, then carefully put it to her lips and watched her drink the glass of water.
When Anna came in, she saw Edward feeding Taoyao water. She was deeply touched by the scene. She originally thought that Taoyao would not like Edward as a brother, but the effect was surprisingly good. The two got along very happily, and Edward had the potential to be a brother.
"Edward, are you taking care of Chrissy?"
Edward stood up and nodded, greeting Anna.
"lady."
Anna wiped Taoyao's lips with a silk scarf and said, "Chris, do you like Edward as a brother?"
Tao Yao looked at Edward and nodded slowly, "I like it, Mom. Edward is very good to me."
Anna saw the Bible in Edward's hand. She thought that a boy like Edward would not read the Bible, but this was a little beyond her expectation.
"Edward, do you read the Bible, too?"
The Bible in Edward's hand happened to stop at the chapter in Genesis that told the story of Abraham.
Anna asked Edward to sit down and she glanced at the Bible in Edward's hand.
"Edward, have you read the story of Abraham?"
Edward glanced down at the book in his hand, "Yes, ma'am."
"Let me read to you and Chris, okay?"
Edward handed the Bible in his hand to Anna, "Yes, ma'am."
Anna slowly began to read from where he was looking. Angel and several servants were standing outside the door. She listened to the sounds inside and glared at the door angrily, as if she could penetrate the iron door with her eyes and shoot through the people inside.
Taoyao slept too much during the day, so she was not very sleepy at night. She lay on the bed and stared at the ceiling in a daze.
Suddenly, there were rustling sounds of footsteps at the door, and Tao Yao closed her eyes and pretended to sleep.
