Chapter 67 The Sister in the True and False Jin Wen (8)
I opened my eyes and stepped from darkness into light. Before my eyes was a white ceiling, and the air was filled with the fragrance of flowers.
Chu Mufeng slowly sat up, looking at his surroundings with a hint of doubt in his eyes.
Is this a hospital?
It was very different from the hospital he remembered.
Perhaps this place is a bit too luxurious.
Chu Mufeng lowered his eyes slightly, the faint pain on his forehead making him realize that he was not dreaming.
The blurry figure from before he lost consciousness flashed through his mind, and he felt a tremor in his heart. He couldn't help but want to get out of bed and ask the people here who had brought him here.
Just as he was lifting the covers, the door opened.
A girl dressed in a sky-blue dress walked in. When she saw that he was awake, her eyes lit up instantly, and she called out towards the door.
"Doctor, doctor, he's awake!"
Le Yan breathed a sigh of relief. Luckily, her younger brother had woken up; otherwise, she would have suspected that the brick had damaged his head.
After calling the doctor, she rushed forward, pressed down on Chu Mufeng who was trying to get out of bed, and looked at him with concern, "Are you alright? Does your wound hurt? Is anything bothering you?"
Chu Mufeng remained silent, staring intently at Le Yan, his gaze never leaving her.
The blurry figure in his mind solidified; it was the person who had saved him.
A glint flashed in his eyes, and after a long while, he spoke in a hoarse voice: "Who are you?"
Le Yan was taken aback, then quickly took out the paternity test report from her bag, grasped Chu Mufeng's hand, and said, word by word, "My name is Zhao Le Yan, I am your older sister, your biological older sister."
"elder sister?"
Chu Mufeng tilted his head slightly, his eyes filled with confusion.
He slowly looked at the open report, his gaze falling on the results, his heart filled with turmoil.
Seeing that he kept his head down and didn't speak, Le Yan thought he didn't believe her, so she said, "Don't worry, if you think I might be lying to you, we can go to a forensic institution to do another DNA test once you're a little better."
"No need," Chu Mufeng said calmly.
He looked up at Le Yan and said, "I believe you."
"I have nothing worth lying to you about. At most, the organs on my body are worth some money."
He didn't care at all whether it was a scam or not.
Chu Mufeng thought to himself, if it's a scam, then he'll accept it. At least he'll have a sister to keep him company for a while.
If it's not a scam, that would be even better. That would mean he's no longer alone; he's a child with a sister and family, and he no longer has to peek into other people's happy lives like a rat in a sewer.
For him, this only brings benefits and no harm.
A hint of fragility showed on her pale face. Chu Mufeng looked at the girl in front of him, whose eyes were filled with heartache for him, and asked in a low voice, "You said you are my sister, so why did we separate?"
He could see clearly that the other person wasn't very old, perhaps around the same age as him. Could they be twins?
Leyan patted his hand and softly told him the truth behind it all.
“You should be surnamed Zhao and named Zhao Mufeng. When your mother gave birth, there was a medical dispute at the hospital, and in the chaos, you and the Chu family’s child were switched at birth.”
"Switched at birth?" Chu Mufeng was somewhat stunned. "Then... you have a younger brother? He's a real member of the Chu family?"
"Does he know? Does he know about the mix-up?"
As the question progressed, Chu Mufeng's tone became somewhat hurried, and his voice rose slightly, becoming sharper.
Le Yan quickly reassured him, "Don't worry, he doesn't know about this yet. He was stabbed by a mental patient while saving me and is currently recovering in the hospital, so he doesn't know about this yet."
Chu Mufeng fell silent, his eyelashes trembling slightly, his eyes filled with a flurry of emotions.
They already had a 15-year-long sibling bond, and he was injured while saving his sister. Their relationship must be extremely close and deep, one that no one else could possibly get close to.
The hand pressed under the blanket curled up uncontrollably, clenching tightly, the slightly long nails gradually digging into the flesh, oozing streaks of blood.
Le Yan gently stroked his back, about to speak, when she heard him tentatively ask in a low voice, "Sister, can you take me to see him?"
"Who?" Le Yan didn't react for a moment.
Chu Mufeng then spoke again: "I want to go see him, as a way of showing my parents, who are still alive, their son."
Hearing this, Le Yan looked at the injury on his head with some hesitation, "But your injury hasn't healed yet."
"I'm fine, sister, you don't need to worry about me."
The fifteen-year-old boy, though emaciated and pale from malnutrition and injury, was extremely handsome, especially his clear, bright, glassy eyes. When he looked at people with an expectant expression, no one could bring themselves to refuse him.
With a sigh, Le Yan nodded and said, "Alright then, the doctor will take a look at you in a bit, and I'll have someone go find a wheelchair."
Just then, the doctor came over, and while watching the doctor examine her condition, Le Yan took out her phone to ask someone to get her a wheelchair.
"Ms. Zhao, the patient is recovering very well and has no post-concussion symptoms. After a few more days of observation, he can be discharged from the hospital if there are no further problems."
"Okay, thank you doctor."
After seeing the doctor off, Le Yan turned around and met Chu Mufeng's bright eyes.
"Sister, the doctor said I'm fine." He spoke softly, his voice slightly hoarse, yet clear and melodious, and exceptionally pleasant to hear.
Le Yan's lips curved slightly, revealing a gentle smile. She said with a hint of helplessness, "I understand. I'll push you over to take a look when the wheelchair arrives."
Then, as if remembering something, she said, "Wait a minute, I'm going out to make a phone call."
Before Chu Mufeng could react, she had already left the room, sat down on a chair nearby, and made a phone call to Ning Zhiyu.
"Sister Yan Yan?"
As soon as Ning Zhiyu, who was looking after Zhao Weizhou in his hospital room, spoke, she immediately drew Zhao Weizhou's attention.
"What's wrong? Is that your sister? What does she want? Why doesn't she look for me?"
This person talked too much. Ning Zhiyu glared at him with disdain, completely ignored him, and went straight out the door.
"Sister Yan Yan, tell me, is there anything you need me to do?"
"Oh? I'm taking Zhao Weizhou downstairs to get some sun later? Can't we go?"
"Alright, alright, then I'll take him for a walk on the grass."
I was so happy to receive a call from my beloved Yan Yan, but now I'm so upset about being assigned the task of taking that annoying kid out to sunbathe.
Ning Zhiyu entered the room with a sullen face, greeted Zhao Weizhou without any emotion, and said, "You, get ready, let's go downstairs to sunbathe."
Zhao Weizhou was enraged by the way the order was given and immediately retorted, "You think I'll just go because you say so?! What gives you the right...?"
"That's what Sister Yan said."
"Actually, it's nice to soak up the sun once in a while. Come on, let's go downstairs and enjoy the sun!"
