Chapter 266: Ozler's Trip
Chapter 266: Ozler's Trip
"The air outside is very good, not hot at all. Do you really not want to go out for a walk?"
Leila trotted to the side of the carriage and leaned over to speak to the princess inside.
It rained a little this morning, and the smell of soil and grass was everywhere outside, which made people feel happy. Leila couldn't help but invite Catherine in the carriage to ride with her again.
"Don't mind her, Miss Leila." Before Catherine could speak, Kanien, who was sitting opposite her, propped up his head and smiled at the energetic girl outside. "She is just a nerd and has no interest in these things."
"Okay..." Leila nodded regretfully when she saw that Catherine did not refute. She glanced at the princess' brother next to her and asked reluctantly out of politeness, "Do you want to come out for some fresh air, Your Highness Canion?"
"Oh, thank you for your kindness. It's a rare opportunity to be with my dear sister. I must cherish this happy time." Kanyon also smiled and politely declined the red-haired girl.
Catherine had no reaction to this, and seemed unwilling to even glance at him.
"Don't worry about them, Leila." The voice of Duke William Bishop came, and he appeared beside Leila on horseback -
"This kid only knows how to enjoy himself on weekdays. His skin is as tender as a newborn hairless mouse. A few days ago, he rode a horse for a whole day just for fun. He cried and asked me to help watch him at night. Both sides of his buttocks were rubbed raw."
Kanyon froze. His smile didn't disappear, it just shifted to Katherine's face.
"Ah..." Leila didn't expect it to be like this, and said dryly, "Then please have a good rest... I wish you a speedy recovery."
"Okay, okay, you're so thoughtful, Miss Leila." Kanien glared at Catherine, who was sitting leisurely opposite him, with gritted teeth. She stopped reading and instead, like he did before, she supported her head with her legs crossed and looked at him leisurely.
As people outside the window chatted lively, the princess smiled at her brother and opened her mouth to utter two words silently -
waste.
Kanyon: !!! He's going back to Highgarden! Every second spent with this woman is unbearable!
"I really envy that guy Winston." Duke William was still chatting with Leila with admiration beside the carriage, "You really look like him back then, but my two children don't look like me at all."
"How could that be? The princess is wise and courageous, and so is His Highness Kanien. They have all inherited your excellent qualities." Leila glanced at the two similar faces in the car, then turned around and greeted the Duke.
"Hahaha, that's because you haven't met Catherine's mother yet, but we will be able to meet her soon..."
Duke William was very sociable, and the other party was the younger generation of his good friend. He could not control his loving heart and talked incessantly to Leila. The two of them became more and more interested in the conversation, and they had no time to pay attention to the two children in the carriage. Catherine immediately picked up a book and started reading it.
Kanien stared at her for a long time, then managed to say, "You're just pretending. I can't stand it."
"Well." Catherine said calmly, "It's because I'm in the same carriage with you that I can only pretend. You can't let me look at your face all the time, right?"
Kanien became even more depressed, but now they were about to arrive in Ozler, and this annoying sister was getting more and more stubborn. If he dared to play any prank on her, he would be condemned by the whole family.
"It's so boring. I really don't want to go back to that damn place..." Kanyon muttered irritably.
Catherine paused as she flipped the paper. She said in a cold tone, "You can go back now. No one has to take you with them."
"Don't take it out on me!" Kanyon sneered. "Uncle George's health is getting better. Are some people worried?"
"You think too much." Catherine stared at the pages of the book without raising her head.
"You should be grateful. If His Majesty hadn't gotten better, why would he let us go back? Isn't this piece of shit what you're thinking about?"
Catherine stroked the sharp corners of the pages without saying anything. After the weather turned warmer, the king's health was indeed getting better and better. He had no problem attending morning meetings for many days in a row. It was said that last month, he and the Pope distributed the Eucharist to the people. Her father was very happy about this.
So when His Majesty the King suggested that he should focus more on his family and pay more attention to his wife, the Duke obediently took his family and the prepared supplies and set off.
There was some mockery in Catherine's eyes. As soon as her health improved, she was in a hurry to drive her father away?
If it was before, she might still be happy about the family reunion, but now——
Catherine frowned irritably, her father couldn't leave Highgarden yet. Being away from the center of power would only make it more difficult for them to fight for the interests of Ozler.
"You should learn how to make your elders happy, Catherine." Kanyon carefully moved his sitting position to make his burning thighs and buttocks feel better, and began to teach Catherine his own successful experience.
"In order to make your position as the crown prince more secure, don't act so cold and wooden in front of His Majesty the King all day long. Can't you try to make him happy? You know, older people like to see the youthful vigor of young people. The more lively and silly you are, the more likable you will be. That will make them feel younger too."
"When did you become so concerned about my career?" Catherine closed the book irritably, looking impatient with Canion's nagging.
"I have always been concerned. Your future determines my future." Canion slumped back in the soft backrest. If Catherine could succeed to the throne smoothly, he would not be the second son of the Duke, but the Queen's brother!
He won't allow anyone to disrupt his bright future, not even Catherine!
Catherine looked at the man in front of her, speechless and even a little admiring. Ozler's crisis was imminent, and he was not completely ignorant of it. However, compared to the life and death of this continent, he seemed to only care about whether he could continue to live a luxurious and casual life.
"It's so funny." Outside the carriage, Leila was amused by the witty and humorous Duke. He was telling how her grandfather had helped the Duke and Duchess to have secret trysts despite numerous obstacles, and even served as a stepping stone for them to climb over the wall again and again.
"You and the Duchess must have a very good relationship!" Leila laughed so hard that she couldn't straighten up for a long time, and she wiped her tears and sighed.
"Haha, has Winston ever told you the story about how we used to pretend to be monsters to scare people, but were caught in a trap set by the monster merchant?" William smiled and told another embarrassing story with his old friend.
The two siblings in the car also fell silent after hearing this. When Leila followed the Duke to another place, Catherine finally asked -
"Canion, is the relationship between father and mother really good?"
"What do you think of love that is worth giving up the throne for?" Kanien rolled his eyes at her.
"But why..." Catherine pursed her lips.
Are your parents different from what others say they are like in your own words?
