Chapter 256 Stalactite
Chapter 256 Stalactite
"what are these?"
As soon as Catherine entered the Rose Building, she saw piles of various sundries. Lilith was still counting them in her notebook.
Leila stood at a distance and sneered, as if she felt that her sister was embarrassed.
"It's just some dry food, cheese, meat, oh, and a kettle." Lilith pointed to another pile without even looking up.
"There are also utensils, pots and pans, knives, and fire. I also have an axe just in case."
"…For holiday practice?" Catherine could barely accept the above, but she pointed to the big bed next to her which was piled with clothes, shoes and blankets, "You want to bring the bed too?"
"Oh, don't force yourself. If you can sleep on the bed, of course you should sleep on it." Lilith disagreed.
"...Didn't we just spread out a blanket and sleep before?"
"That was in the past. Times have changed, Princess." Lilith continued to take out some compasses, maps, and even a beautiful purple wood crossbow.
"I've never seen you take it so seriously before..." Catherine was speechless.
"Yes, so these are for Leila. Please help me pack them, Catherine." Lilith smiled at her.
Now Leila couldn't laugh anymore, she became the embarrassed one.
"Do you think I'm going on a picnic?" Leila's eyelids twitched and her toes dug into the ground. She looked around quickly and fortunately, there weren't many people around.
"Don't be embarrassed! Catherine has a lot of storage space. Ask her to get you anything you need. And don't always carry your sword on your back..." Lilith started nagging at her like an old mother.
Then he was thrown out of the door again by Leila.
"Tsk, you don't know how to appreciate a good person..." But at least the things she prepared were not thrown away. Lilith dressed neatly and walked out of the rose garden.
"I also need to go."
As she passed by the wall, someone just happened to climb over into the campus.
"You'd better deal with your family's troubles first!" Lilith glared at Lucas.
"I... Ke Luo will help take care of mom when I'm not around." Lucas thought this was what Lilith was referring to.
Lilith rolled her eyes in anger. Ever since her sister came, this guy's brain hasn't been working very well.
"My distribution rights!" Lilith was angry that he didn't fight for it. "Go fight for what you should fight for. Do you still need me to teach you about this?"
Lucas looked hesitant. Fred had paid real money and he was just a stepping stone.
"If you don't fight, and your sister doesn't fight either, then you're making a joke of my kindness. Do I want to be a joke?" Lilith said coldly.
Lucas shook his head hastily.
"If you keep trying to make a living by doing these odd jobs, you'll never be able to grow into a supportive person for your family. Since you're unreliable, your sister will naturally have to rely on others, Mr. Fred." Lilith looked at Lucas, who had a gloomy expression, and spoke mercilessly.
Lucas pursed his lips, "Sorry... I'll take care of it myself, but I'm still going with you. I can help you, Lilith!"
"Whatever you want." Lilith waved her hand, "If you think this will make you feel better."
……
"So why is this place called the Thousand Needles Bridge? There are no needles here."
In order to prevent others from getting ahead of them, Lilith and her group set out on the first day of the holiday.
The Thousand Needles Bridge was broken due to the earthquake. The huge stone pillars underneath collapsed, causing the bridge deck to slant into the deep valley. In the morning mist, the downward slanting bridge deck looked like a road to hell.
"It's not because of the needle. You'll know later."
Lulu followed Lilith Ian and scattered handfuls of seeds in the cracks of the stone bridge. Then Lilith used elven magic to catalyze the seeds into thick vines, which extended all the way downwards and turned into a rope ladder leading to the bottom of the bridge.
They climbed halfway up the ladder, and the morning mist finally dissipated. Sean looked down and exclaimed, "So that's it!"
There is no river under the Thousand Needles Bridge, but a strange stalactite forest in a narrow valley. Their tips are all facing upwards, and when viewed from above, they look like cold and sharp iron needles.
"Oh my God, how can there be such a stone? It's amazing!" Hannah exclaimed.
"Yeah..." Lilith murmured as she climbed on the vines.
She had seen this thing when she was watching science videos in her previous life. These stalagmites and stalactites are cave landforms and calcium carbonate deposits. How did they get to the ground?
"Huh, maybe we should come down again at night and let your gargoyle help." When they finally climbed down the vines and landed at the bottom of the valley dozens of meters away from the bridge, Sean's hands and feet were already weak.
"How can we find the entrance at night?" Lilith rolled her eyes at him.
"It's actually quite obvious." Lucas jumped off the vine and pointed not far away.
Because of the earthquake, the flat valley bottom was squeezed and became uneven. There was a small hill that looked like an arch. The bridge piers above broke and fell down, and smashed the soil layer on the side of the hill, revealing a regular wooden structure inside, which was obviously a man-made structure.
"Wow, so there was glass before the holy war?" Lulu got closer and saw that some colorful broken glass was still preserved in the four sides of the window frames, shining brightly in the sun. It was because of this that this relic could be observed by people on the bridge.
Lilith also moved closer and used the illumination spell to take a quick look next to the broken window frame - she saw nothing.
It seemed to be extremely large and deep there, and this little light was not enough to illuminate its interior. Lilith looked at the dark and profound place, and she was not brave enough to reach her hand in to shine further, as she always felt that something seemed to be spying on her in the darkness.
She loosened her hands and let the ball of light roll in. Light flashed in it, and Lilith could only glimpse the vague light and shadow. The ball of light rolled away and then dissipated, and the inside became dark again.
“Gulp.” It was Sean who swallowed. “Is it a little too dark – should we really go in?”
"You're so brave, and you still want to follow others to slay a dragon?" Bobby rolled his eyes at him, "Luckily I brought you here."
"Maybe I'd rather do something useless." Sean muttered and complained, but his hands did not stop. He helped Lilith to enlarge the hole so that more sunlight could shine in. In case of danger, it would be easier for them to escape.
The window with broken glass was removed and thrown aside. The small hole that could only allow one person to pass through became a large hole that could accommodate several people in parallel. Lilith nodded with satisfaction and said - "Not bad!"
"Yes—yes—yes—"
A distant and strange echo came from the cave.
"Hiss..." Sean got goosebumps and moved closer to Hannah, confirming in a low voice, "Hannah, you are dark elementally friendly, see if you have any..."
"Ghosts?" Hannah closed her eyes and held her breath, feeling carefully, then spoke honestly.
"Yes, but not much."
"Ahhhh I want to go back to Goletia!!!"
