Chapter 165 Test Music
Chapter 165 Testing the Music (Part 1)
The three worked until nearly 3 p.m. and finally completed the construction of Xia Yuansheng's exclusive "neural translation package".
Jiang Haiyang stood up from his seat and gave Feng Weixu and Wei Hongsi a high-five in celebration.
But Wei Hongsi's reaction was noticeably slower, and his eyes were still somewhat dazed, so he asked, "What's wrong? Is there a problem?"
"Huh? No!" Wei Hongsi quickly replied.
The reason he was distracted was because the "system" displayed a line of blue ghost text.
[Event: Completed the construction of a victim-specific "neural translation package", earning 12 contribution points]
Current contribution points: 284
In this work, Wei Hongsi only offered some suggestions and recently assisted Jiang Haiyang. Receiving only 12 contribution points is reasonable.
The additional 6 contribution points were for curing 3 more "mental pollution" patients on Saturday.
Now, for patients with mild to moderate symptoms, Wei Hongsi no longer needs to intervene, yet he still earns contribution points, making things much easier.
Jiang Haiyang asked, "If there's no problem, why are you spacing out?"
"I thought of something else," Wei Hongsi said, bringing up the idea of converting music into auditory cognitive signals.
"Signal conversion itself is not difficult, but at which stage do you plan to implement it?" Jiang Haiyang asked.
Wei Hongsi said, "It's not confirmed yet. I contacted you to prepare for verification."
Converting musical elements into auditory cognitive signals is an integral part of building a music resource library.
In the first mode, the music library consists of musical phrases. When an emotional request is received, the corresponding musical phrases are extracted and combined into a music fragment, and then the entire music is converted into an auditory cognitive signal.
The second mode first converts the music into auditory cognitive signals, then puts them into the music material library. Upon receiving a request, it extracts the corresponding signals, splices them together, and then outputs them directly.
Mode 1 is certainly feasible, but it involves an additional signal conversion step after receiving the request, requiring the configuration of the conversion device, and the response time is relatively long.
Mode 2 offers a faster response and more flexible adjustment. However, signal splicing may cause problems such as neural interference, noise superposition, and emotional fragmentation.
These problems cannot be correctly deduced theoretically; they can only be verified through practice.
Jiang Haiyang asked, half-jokingly, "How do you plan to verify this? Will you sing it for us live?"
Feng Weixu laughed and said, "Singing probably won't work, will it? The result would just be a garbled, incoherent melody. It can only convey the simplest, most primal emotions, right?"
Jiang Haiyang also laughed and said, "You mean 'anxious'?"
Feng Weixu said earnestly, "No, it's happiness!"
Wei Hongsi said, "Let's not get off topic. Of course, this kind of thing should be done by professionals. We have already done the groundwork."
"You guys? You have friends who understand music?" Jiang Haiyang asked in surprise. "I don't think I've ever seen you express any interest in music before?"
Feng Weixu said, "What's so strange about that? I know a lot about music! We were just chatting about music in the group last time."
Jiang Haiyang asked, "Can you play a musical instrument? Do you know how to compose music? And if we're talking about spectrum analysis, do you think I don't know how?"
Wei Hongsi ignored the two men's argument and sent a message to Shen Qing to communicate.
Shen Qing asked, "Can we video chat?"
Wei Hongsi replied, "Sure."
The work they did for the police needed to be kept secret, but there wasn't anything in the workroom that couldn't be seen, and video communication was more convenient.
Soon, Shen Qing called him on video. After Wei Hongsi answered, he placed his phone upright on the table and explained the verification process to her.
When Feng Weixu and Jiang Haiyang saw that Wei Hongsi was on the phone, they lowered their voices.
Soon, they heard a girl's voice coming from Wei Hongsi's phone. The two immediately stopped talking, looked at each other, and then stood behind Wei Hongsi.
Shen Qing spotted the figure and asked, "Do you have any colleagues over there?"
Wei Hongsi said, "I'm in the lab at our school, and the two of my senior classmates are next to me."
He shifted his body back halfway, allowing Feng Weixu and Jiang Haiyang to appear in the frame, and introduced them to Shen Qing.
Shen Qing waved to the camera and greeted the two of them.
Jiang Haiyang looked at the screen and said, "Ah, you look just like that singer Shen Qing."
Shen Qing smiled and said, "I am Shen Qing!"
Jiang Haiyang smiled and nodded: "Hello, big star."
He took Shen Qing's joke and didn't mind. The main reason was that Shen Qing was dressed casually at home today, wearing glasses, which was quite different from her public image.
Shen Qing said, "I'm just a small-time singer, not a big star!"
Wei Hongsi patted Jiang Haiyang on the shoulder: "Get to the point, what we need to discuss is how to conduct this verification experiment."
Jiang Haiyang pulled up a chair and sat down next to Wei Hongsi, saying, "Then tell us about your experimental design first."
Feng Weixu also grabbed a chair and sat on the other side of Wei Hongsi. Together with Shen Qing on the other end of the phone, the four of them started discussing.
Wei Hongsi first explained the experimental design, and after Jiang Haiyang listened, he went over it again from his perspective. Feng Weixu then added some supplementary information.
After aligning their experimental ideas, the four of them went through it together, mainly to clarify the division of tasks for each step.
Shen Qing spent a long time talking with Wei Hongsi on Friday night and gained a considerable understanding of the experiment. She also learned a lot of professional vocabulary from Wei Hongsi.
Wei Hongsi explained some of the terms to her, and she wrote them down; for others that weren't explained, she looked them up herself. Although her understanding of these technical terms was only at a superficial level, she was already able to use them correctly in conversations.
At that moment, she realized that Wei Hongsi's use of engineering language to communicate with her that night was indeed very forward-thinking; otherwise, she would have just listened to the discussion without understanding it.
After the discussion, Jiang Haiyang praised, "Big star, you're very professional!"
Shen Qing smiled and said, "You flatter me, you flatter me. I learned it all from Hong Si."
Feng Weixu patted Wei Hongsi on the shoulder: "You're such a good teacher, could you cover for me for a few classes next semester if you have time?"
Wei Hongsi said, "It's not that it's impossible."
Jiang Haiyang said, "Then please cover my classes too."
Wei Hongsi quickly said, "We've gone off-topic, let's get started."
Jiang Haiyang stood up and waved his hand: "Let's get to work!"
Among Wei Hongsi's fellow students who are still studying, Jiang Haiyang is the most skilled in neural signal decoding and is also familiar enough with this newly established laboratory, so he will lead this verification experiment.
Wei Hongsi picked up his phone from the table, preparing to switch to his desktop computer to connect with Shen Qing, which would also make it easier to transfer files.
Seeing the layout of the workspace, Shen Qing told Wei Hongsi not to hang anything yet, wanting to tour it via her phone. Wei Hongsi then walked around and gave her a brief overview.
Shen Qing said, "Next time there's a chance, could you take me to see it?"
Jiang Haiyang replied, "No problem, you're welcome anytime."
