Chapter 47 Archery Club
Chapter 47 Archery Club
"Do you have any more questions?" Professor Williams asked, his gaze sweeping over the slightly uneasy students, who seemed restless after the lesson ended. "If not, then today's lesson is over."
A murmur of relief and soft sighs immediately filled the classroom.
"Phew...it's finally over..." someone muttered in the back row, a sentiment echoed by most people.
“I thought this class would never end,” another voice echoed, reflecting the general consensus among the students.
The students exchanged knowing glances and sympathetic smiles, while the professor's attention returned to the podium. His expression remained calm as he continued addressing the class:
"Before you leave, a reminder: the second assignment has been uploaded to the college website. It's a research project focusing on the political intrigue of the hunted nations in the Broken Throne era. Please choose your topic wisely and submit your assignment by the end of next week."
The announcement elicited a variety of reactions from the students; some sighed, some nodded helplessly, and others looked worried.
Another research assignment? Are you kidding me?
"I'm already struggling to keep up with the reading materials, and now they're adding this on top of that?"
"Hopefully he'll go easy on me in the ratings this time."
Professor Williams' tone remained unchanged despite the students' complaints. "Understanding past political landscapes provides crucial insights, helping us comprehend the dynamics shaping today's world. Remember, the deeper you delve into history, the better you can anticipate future challenges. That's all for today. Have a great weekend!"
After saying that, he left the classroom, leaving the students alone. Today is the last day of classes this week, and next I'm going to attend the archery club's welcome party.
"It shouldn't be too long. But if I can meet Coach Joey, maybe I can ask him for some tips," I thought to myself.
I accepted his invitation in order to learn and observe how the archery club members use bows and arrows, and to incorporate their techniques into my own style.
Looking in the front row, I noticed Alice was also about to leave. I wasn't sure, but she might also be a member of the archery club.
"Hey, where are you going?" Julia asked when she saw Alice packing her things. She usually asked that, but today Alice seemed a little anxious.
"There's a club welcome party tonight, I need to go and get ready," Alice replied in her usual indifferent tone.
“Oh, I see. You’re in the archery club, right?” Julia asked, seemingly forgetting which club Alice belonged to, or more likely, she didn’t care.
"Yes."
“I don’t understand. Why did you join that club? You’ve run out of things to learn, haven’t you?” Irina interjected, looking at Alice. For example, she was a mage, yet she hadn’t joined the magic research club, despite being invited. She knew those researchers were just trying to curry favor with her, and their level was far inferior to her family’s research.
“You can always learn something from others,” Alice replied calmly, her gaze focused on packing her things.
Julia seemed very interested. "Is this why you joined the archery club? You must be quite good at it already." She herself was a member of the kendo club, but she joined to practice with the upperclassmen; she didn't think those members could teach her much more.
Alice shrugged, her movements precise and methodical. "A limit is never a reason to stop learning; there's always room for improvement," she replied.
"Oh...that's why this girl isn't the heroine in the game," Morse thought to himself. As a player who had played the game many times, the character he respected most was Alice, a girl who had never lost her way in her life. Although she was a bit arrogant and sometimes looked down on others, she always strived for improvement.
Her dual nature is why players call her a "hypocritical woman," but Morse admires her nonetheless. In a sense, she's one of those women who prioritizes her career.
Irina raised an eyebrow. "So, you mean you went there to learn from the other members?"
A faint, enigmatic smile appeared on Alice's lips. "I mean, I'm there to learn from everyone. You never know where knowledge will come from. And I don't have to be there all the time. They can't say anything to me."
As those words echoed in the air, Alice quickly gathered her things, stood up gracefully, and remained composed. "Have a nice weekend," she said, and then left.
"Why do I always feel like I can never win against her in a verbal battle?" Irina said, watching Alice walk away.
“Yes, she’s always like that,” Victor said in his usual calm tone, then turned to Julia. “Julia, would you like to come to dinner?” he asked.
“No, I have to go to training.” Julia refused outright, standing up to pack her things. “And don’t even think about coming with me.” She interrupted Victor, who had just opened his mouth, and then immediately left.
'I should go too.' Having confirmed that Alice had joined the archery club was enough, I didn't waste any more time, stood up, and left the classroom.
"Pfft...hahahahaha..."
"What are you laughing at? Tsk."
However, I could still hear Victor complaining to Lucas and Ethan, who were clearly the source of his anger. It seems he was just unlucky this time.
As I left, I felt several pairs of eyes on me again, but this time there were three. It seems that as time goes by, more and more people are watching me.
'Irina, Sylvie's friend, and that man.'
Just as my thoughts were occupied by these observations, a sudden collision brought me back to my senses.
Whoosh—bang
If I hadn't reacted quickly, the "collision" would have almost sent me flying. I turned to look at the person who bumped into me, and at the same time, a sweet fragrance of lilies wafted towards me.
"Watch where you're going!" Hearing the girl's voice and seeing her beautiful but angry face, I immediately remembered who she was.
Green hair and fiery red eyes.
Alice.
It seems she left something in the classroom. Despite her anger towards me, I had no reason to say anything more to her.
He dusted off his uniform and kept walking, too lazy to respond.
"Hey, I told you—"
"Don't talk to me."
Before she could finish speaking, I interrupted her and turned to leave. There was no need to say anything more, because I already knew what was going to happen next.
She simply berated me like she always does with others in the guild, then swaggered away like a goddess. After all, that's how she treats most people.
Although Alice is a person who strives for progress, this is her weakness—arrogance. This is one of the reasons why the player base doesn't like her very much.
I don't like that either. While her drive for progress is commendable, her arrogance prevents her from becoming a leading lady, and that may be why she will die alone.
However, I wasn't much better off.
And so, I returned to my room to prepare for club activities.
......
The archery club's training grounds and the areas where they practice are outdoor spaces specifically designed for archers. It's located some distance from the heart of the main campus—where most of the main buildings are concentrated—so it requires a walk to reach.
As I entered the archery club's training grounds, a scene that showcased the club's unique pride came into view. Hidden in a quiet corner of the academy, this secluded sanctuary exuded a distinctive atmosphere.
The training grounds have a harmonious atmosphere designed by nature. Tall trees form a protective canopy, with dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves.
At the heart of this tranquil setting stands a large wooden building—the indoor training hall. Its antique exterior hints at the long hours of rigorous practice that take place within its walls.
Clearly, the design here is inspired by the style of elves invading this world, but it also incorporates modern human elements, creating a unique contrast.
The outdoor training target is a meticulously crafted shooting range. This reflects the club's unwavering pursuit of excellence in archery.
Various targets were carefully placed at different distances, some stationary and others moving along complex trajectories.
Although there seemed to be a lot to explore, I didn't go any further because the club members were all gathered in the open area of the club grounds.
颤—
Suddenly, my body trembled involuntarily, and a chill ran through me.
"Tsk. Lately, it seems like everyone likes to glare at you with their eyes," I muttered.
Feeling an even stronger, more piercing gaze than before, I turned to look at its source. Sure enough, it was Alice again, staring at me.
Unlike Irina, Alice's gaze didn't seem to be staring at me, but my intuition told me it was more dangerous. Her seemingly calm gaze carried a subtle threat.
It doesn't matter.
Some might ask, why am I so indifferent to these people with great power and background?
The answer is simple: I don't care.
Even if they ruin my future career by pressuring me, I don't intend to become a future renowned hunter.
That kind of life was never meant for me.
Moreover, these kinds of people are inherently arrogant and picky. Unless you are willing to bow down and fawn over them, they will always cause you trouble, no matter what your attitude is.
Just as I was pondering these things, I sensed two powerful auras approaching.
At the front of the crowd, the two deliberately exuded their aura, watching the new members.
The club president, Adrian Casti, stood tall, exuding an air of authority.
His voice rang out with confidence: "Archery is not just a skill; it is an art, a display of precision and elegance. We carry on the legacy of the greatest archers in history, and we welcome those who believe they can embark on this noble path."
I know him somewhat because I've seen him in the game.
He is an extremely competitive person, and his only goal is to become the next "Bow Emperor" and succeed the current one.
The young man with a cold expression was the tallest among everyone present. He had dazzling silver hair, a perfect posture, and his azure eyes swept over the assembled students with a hint of arrogance.
'What a pity, your competitive spirit is full of challenges,' I thought to myself.
As someone who had a conflict with the girl who had just "stabbed" me with her eyes, they eventually engaged in fierce competition.
And he will lose everything: his title, his reputation, and his social life. Because beneath his cold exterior lies an arrogant man. He looks down on others and uses his family's reputation and resources to threaten them.
A man who considers himself of noble lineage, an elitist like Victor.
His gaze lingered on Alice for a second before shifting to the girl who had stepped forward. But I could see a filthy desire in his eyes; even Alice seemed to sense it, for her body tensed slightly.
Standing beside Adrian was a young woman with long, flowing black hair cascading over her shoulders, her posture elegant. A hint of arrogance flickered in her eyes as she looked at the assembled students. "I am Elira, the vice-president of the archery club," she announced, her voice smooth yet authoritative.
"As the president said, our goal is to be the best. If you don't want to compete, you can leave now."
This girl will later become Alice's best helper and replace her as the female lead—Elera Holden.
With everything settled, club activities officially began.
