Chapter 16 Eavesdropping
Chapter 16 Eavesdropping
Luo Sifan was awakened by the two women. He patted the Chi Ze beneath him, activated the fox clan's spiritual energy, and silently recited the incantation. His form transformed into a small tree beside the white stone.
Chi Ze was already used to it. He shook his white tail, yawned, and disappeared into the void before the two women in red arrived.
Unaware of the danger, the two women in red seemed to be drawn to the lake view as well, laughing and chasing each other as they climbed the white rock one after the other and looked around.
Luo Sifan transformed into a small tree, originally intending to avoid trouble. Unexpectedly, these two unfamiliar women approached him. Dressed in red with fair skin and exuding fragrance, they chatted and laughed as if no one else was around, making Luo Sifan feel awkward and guilty.
"Jiangzhu, come here!"
The one who looked more mature winked and, in front of Luo Sifan's wide-eyed gaze, raised her delicate hand and unbuttoned her shirt.
Luo Sifan was momentarily stunned by the abrupt scene. The woman quickly stripped off her red dress until she was completely naked, and then swayed seductively on the white stone, teasing and mocking another slightly shy woman in red. She then casually hung the clothes in her hands on the tree branch that Luo Sifan had transformed into.
The young woman named Jiangzhu awkwardly began to remove her skirt and clothes, holding them in front of her. She looked around, approached Luo Sifan, stood on tiptoe, and hung her clothes on the small tree as well.
Then, the two women exchanged shy smiles, joined hands, and leaped into the lake from the white stone. The splashing water and their sweet voices echoed, like two large white fish playing in the clear lake water, creating a unique and enchanting scene.
Luo Sifan didn't dare to look closely, turning her head to the side, keeping her eyes down and her mind at ease, and didn't really listen to what the two women were saying.
But during their casual conversation, the two women suddenly mentioned Bai Moyan's name in an unfriendly tone. Luo Sifan's mind stirred, and he began to eavesdrop on their whispers.
"That brat Bai Moyan secretly abducted Chi Ze away from the mountain, probably because she's worried about her mother's injuries! The Bai family spoils and indulges this girl so much, letting her use the jade token without permission. Even the clan leader can't stand it anymore. The Bai family probably won't be able to protect the spirit beast jade token anymore. Jiangzhu, this is good news, hehe..."
"Sister, even so, the clan leader still favors the Bai family. Tomorrow, the alchemy master invited by the clan leader will personally start the furnace to refine the Spirit-Preserving Pill for Bai Wuxia. Once Bai Wuxia recovers from her injuries, she will still be the clan leader's favorite!"
"A master of alchemy?"
The older woman chuckled twice, clearly unconvinced, before lowering her voice considerably.
"The clan leader has always disliked interacting with humans. How could she possibly know any alchemy masters? This person is actually Aunt Luan's old flame... He's been bewitched by Aunt Luan and has been lingering outside Limeng Mountain for the past few days. It just so happens that he ran into people from both inside and outside the clan who were visiting alchemy."
"Then wouldn't our Chi family have been doing all this for nothing, just making wedding clothes for the Bai family?"
Jiangzhu lowered her voice and said resentfully.
Luo Sifan shook his head as he listened, amazed that his own relatives from Li Mengshan were so ruthless in their infighting.
The older woman chuckled coldly a few times, pinched Jiangzhu's disgruntled cheek, and said indifferently:
"As for refining the Spirit-Preserving Pill, our Chi family will naturally give our full support. However, if Bai Wuxia gets an upset stomach from the pill or suffers damage to her cultivation, that's not something our Chi family can guarantee... Hehe."
Jiangzhu was initially puzzled, but after a few breaths she suddenly understood. Slightly out of breath, she whispered:
"Sister! Could it be that this pill gathering..."
The two exchanged subtle glances, one secretly excited, the other feigning profundity.
Luo Sifan, who was watching from the side, was clearly annoyed.
As a righteous and traditional alchemist, professional ethics have always been his bottom line. He would never stoop to making poisonous pills out of malice. He would find it even more unbearable for others to talk about such things so openly and without any attempt to conceal their true intentions.
Luo Sifan was restless and agitated, and the sapling swayed slightly a few times.
"who!"
The two women, feeling somewhat guilty, covered their chests and swam towards the shore, their expressions shifting as they whispered a warning behind a small tree.
There was no one around Luo Sifan.
The two women, suspicious and looking around, lost interest in playing in the water. They dried themselves off on the rocks, tore off their clothes, quickly put them back on, and slipped away along the lakeside path.
Luo Sifan's transformation into a small tree remained unchanged until Bai Moyan's hurried figure appeared on the mountain path.
Instantly withdrawing the fox clan's spiritual energy, Luo Sifan met Bai Moyan, whose face was flushed and who was slightly out of breath.
"I'm sorry to have kept you waiting, sister!"
Luo Sifan smiled and shook his head, then took Bai Moyan's small hand:
"We're sisters, why be so polite? The scenery here is beautiful, I haven't had enough yet."
"Is that so?"
Bai Moyan was skeptical, but she took out a blue wooden plaque from her sleeve and hung it on Luo Sifan's waist.
"I got a visitor tag from the clan chief. Sister Xiaozhi, don't lose it. Keep it on so no one will mistake you for a thief when you walk around the mountain."
Luo Sifan nodded, and the two of them walked hand in hand up the steps slowly in the moonlight and shadows of the trees.
Along the way, several powerful spiritual entities secretly spied on them, presumably disciples or spirit beasts guarding Limeng Mountain. After Chi Ze disappeared, he never reappeared, and Bai Moyan didn't question Luo Sifan about it, seemingly knowing that Chi Ze was not there.
As they wound their way through the mountain road, Luo Sifan saw many exotic flowers and trees. Bai Moyan kept talking, saying that the ancient heritage of Limeng Mountain was indeed worth mentioning.
More than an hour later, Bai Moyan led Luo Sifan to a solitary peak and a steep path. A stone house guarded the steep mountain path, with white mist swirling on both sides, and the spiritual energy was quite strong.
Bai Moyan's mood improved considerably, and she lightly pulled Luo Sifan onto the steep mountain path:
"Sister Xiaozhi! This is my home. My peak is named Poyun, and it ranks second among the seventy-two peaks of Limeng Mountain!"
His pride and excitement were palpable.
No wonder she was resented, Luo Sifan thought to herself, but couldn't help but praise Bai Moyan a few times, revealing a hint of envy. Bai Moyan smiled even more happily.
The female disciple who remained in the stone house was also dressed in white. She was much older than Bai Moyan. She was very enthusiastic when she saw Bai Moyan, but she didn't pay much attention to Luo Sifan.
Upon reaching their own peak, Bai Moyan moved with unrestrained ease, her speed increasing tenfold. The two of them ascended for several thousand meters along a ridge that appeared and disappeared in the clouds, before finally stopping after breaking through the sea of clouds.
Under the silvery moon, amidst the boundless sea of clouds, dozens of verdant peaks of varying heights emerged from the clouds, appearing as beautiful and otherworldly as celestial mountains in the sea.
Luo Sifan and Bai Moyan held hands and leaned against the jade railing of a stone bridge, holding their breath and admiring the view for a while.
"Beautiful! So beautiful!"
Luo Sifan murmured softly, his eyes somewhat unfocused, unsure whether he was looking at the sea of clouds and the fairy mountains, or at Bai Moyan, who was blocking half of the view.
"elder sister!"
Bai Moyan blushed inexplicably, stomped her foot, and led the bewildered Luo Sifan along the jade railing on the mountainside to a platform on the sea of clouds.
"Yunshui Pavilion, this is my mother's favorite place of cultivation. You can come and go as you please, sister. I suppose there are hardly any people around."
The jade platform is flat and only a dozen meters in size. Outside the jade railing, the sea of clouds rises, just enough to submerge one's feet. Practicing here, one can easily gather the spiritual energy of heaven and earth.
Luo Sifan nodded silently and extended his hand to Bai Moyan:
"Sister, give me the alchemy furnace and the spiritual materials for the Spirit-Preserving Pill first."
