Chapter 4 Taking in Rabbits
Chapter 4 Taking in Rabbits
While Lin Shushu was cultivating and exploring the space, a fierce battle was taking place on a distant planet on the edge of the world, involving the Zerg.
The insect swarm has been attacking for over a month, and the battle has never stopped during that time.
Mo Ze had just retreated from the front lines, his arm wrapped in bandages, with blood seeping out intermittently, but he paid no heed. He sat at the control panel of the starship, watching the two sides clashing in the distance, his brows furrowed tightly.
On the front lines, the ever-surging swarms of insects overwhelmed the human army. Soldiers piloted their mechs and fought tenaciously. When one soldier lost his fighting ability, another immediately took his place, barely managing to keep the insectoids outside the defensive line.
Lieutenant Gu Rong approached Mo Ze and handed him a bottle of nutrient solution. Mo Ze took it, opened the cap, tilted his head back, and drank it down. He then threw the empty bottle into the trash can behind him.
"Commander, the Zerg offensive seems to have slowed down. Does this wave of Zerg mean it's about to pass?" Gu Rong asked expectantly.
Mo Ze, however, was not so optimistic. He continued to look at the battlefield, where there seemed to be some commotion behind the Zerg. The leading Zerg were spreading out to both sides, as if they were performing some kind of ritual.
Upon seeing this, Mo Ze's eyes sharpened, and he abruptly stood up and quickly stepped off the starship.
"Commander, you have been fighting for three days and three nights. You need to rest well," Gu Rong called out from behind.
"Advanced Zerg have appeared. Immediately notify our combat personnel to retreat." After saying this, Mo Ze activated his mech and flew towards the battlefield.
Behind him, Gu Rong realized the seriousness of the situation and hurriedly sent out the message through a public communicator.
Mo Ze arrived at the battlefield, where a colossal creature appeared before him—a level nine Zerg armored beast. It was currently tearing apart a mech, which looked like a tiny toy to it. Around it, soldiers who hadn't had time to retreat lay scattered on the ground, their fates unknown.
Mo Ze piloted his mecha forward and launched a sudden attack, drawing the attention of the scaled beasts and buying time for the soldiers who couldn't retreat in time.
The scaled beast also noticed the human attacking it. It turned around to face Mo Ze head-on and swept its incredibly hard scales at Mo Ze.
Mo Ze skillfully dodged, and once there were no more soldiers on the battlefield, he stopped piloting the mech. Mo Ze understood that ordinary attacks could no longer harm a level nine insectoid, let alone a scaled beast known for its hard exoskeleton.
While defending against the scaled beast's attacks, Mo Ze also gathered powerful mental energy. Yes, he had to use his mental energy to fight the scaled beast; only by finding an opportunity to attack its brain could he have a chance of survival.
Mo Ze transformed his SSS-level mental power into an invisible blade, attacking the scaled beast's brain. As its brain was attacked, the scaled beast became increasingly frenzied, repeatedly lashing out at Mo Ze with its limbs and tail. The mountain-like beast crashed down, and Mo Ze, caught in the nick of time, was unable to dodge. His mech was severely deformed, and Mo Ze was also seriously injured, bleeding from all seven orifices.
Unable to move his limbs, Mo Ze still mustered his mental strength and attacked the scaled beast once more. The scaled beast's mental sea suffered a devastating attack, its movements finally slowing until it lay motionless, completely dead. Mo Ze, too, lost consciousness.
Gu Rong arrived with his men and hurriedly carried Mo Ze out of the wrecked mecha and rushed him onto the starship.
Upon seeing Mo Ze covered in blood, the army doctor hurriedly took emergency measures. However, Mo Ze's internal organs were severely damaged, and the bleeding could not be stopped.
“Deputy General Gu, the commander-in-chief’s injuries are too severe, and I am powerless to help. I heard that the Royal Medical Academy on the Imperial Star has developed a new medical pod that can heal even the most serious injuries as long as there is still a breath left. We should send the commander-in-chief back to the Imperial Star as soon as possible.”
Upon hearing this, Gu Rong disregarded the aftermath of the battle and hurriedly steered the starship toward the Imperial Star.
To shorten the journey, Gu Rong disregarded everything else and steered the starship off course, intending to use a wormhole to jump directly, which would save at least half the time. Although this decision was somewhat risky, it wasn't the first time they had done this; as long as they were careful of spatial turbulence, the safety was quite high.
Gu Rong hadn't expected the saying, "What you fear most is what happens." Sure enough, an unexpected event occurred. As the starship entered the wormhole, it encountered spatial turbulence. This spatial turbulence was different from before; it came faster and more violently, with spatial forces from all directions squeezing towards the starship. Gu Rong directed everyone to activate the defense system, resisting wave after wave of attacks.
Just as they were about to burst out of the wormhole, an even stronger spatial turbulence struck, piercing through the starship and causing it to disintegrate. Gu Rong only had time to put protective shields on himself and Mo Ze before being pushed into the void by the spatial turbulence.
M19. Lin Shushu finished her day of cultivation and left the space, intending to continue exploring the planet. After all, she was the owner of this planet, and she needed to understand the situation thoroughly. Furthermore, although the space was excellent, and she could live there for a lifetime without any problem, now that she was in interstellar space, even if she didn't travel the stars, she should at least make her home more comfortable. Therefore, terraforming the planet was put on the agenda.
That day, Lin Shushu woke up by the river to find herself at the Great Perfection of Qi Refining. She was both overjoyed and apprehensive; the breakthrough had been too rapid, leaving her somewhat uneasy. Back in her attic, she read through all the books on the shelf, gaining a clearer understanding of the cultivation world. Perhaps because she had officially embarked on the path of cultivation and her body had been modified, she now possessed sharp hearing and eyesight, learning quickly and retaining her knowledge perfectly. Her cultivation had now reached the third level of Foundation Establishment.
It's worth mentioning that she also discovered an alchemy room on the second floor of the attic, filled with various alchemy tools and recipes. Lin Shushu was quite interested in alchemy, and having tested her aptitude with a spirit-testing stone, she found herself to have dual fire and wood spiritual roots, which were essential requirements to become an alchemist. Now, Lin Shushu could successfully refine second-tier pills.
Lin Shushu maneuvered her flying sword, wobbling in mid-air. Forgive her, she had only just learned to fly on a sword and didn't have the graceful air of the immortals on TV.
As she flew over a sea of flowers, Lin Shushu landed. After her cultivation, she finally understood why the plants here were wilted and looked malnourished. It turned out that a layer of black mist shrouded the sky above this planet, and the plants and animals that grew here absorbed this black mist year after year, suppressing their vitality and thus preventing them from thriving.
Lin Shushu unexpectedly discovered that her spiritual power could suppress this dark energy. This gave her more confidence in transforming her home. Given time, she was sure she could create a paradise that everyone would envy.
Lin Shushu picked a handful of colorful flowers and was preparing to fly away on her sword. Suddenly, a white object caught her eye. Walking closer, she discovered it was a rabbit. This was the first animal Lin Shushu had encountered here, and she was overjoyed.
The rabbit seemed to be seriously injured and was almost lifeless, its white fur stained red with blood.
Lin Shushu hurriedly took out a Rejuvenation Pill from her spatial storage, dissolved it in water, and fed it to the rabbit. Then she picked it up, and with a thought, returned to her spatial storage.
