Before the end of Chapter 407
Before the end of Chapter 407
The central platform is the most fortified area of the floating city, protected by three layers of alloy armor, and its only entrance is guarded by twenty fully armed security personnel.
Yu Yang and Cheng Hai hid behind a nearby water tank, observing and looking for an opportunity to break through.
“A direct breakthrough is impossible,” Yu Yang analyzed. “Even with Cheng Hai’s current strength, he can’t handle twenty pulse rifles.”
Cheng Hai squinted. "Look at that logo." He pointed to a small entrance on the side of the platform. "The logo of Ocean Bio. Their technical team must still be inside debugging."
"so?"
“So,” Cheng Hai revealed a sly smile, “the technical team needs shift changes. And we have uniforms.”
Ten minutes later, two "technicians" dressed in Ocean Biology uniforms walked toward the side door.
Yu Yang kept his head down as much as possible, his gills hidden by the high collar.
Cheng Hai's mutated left arm was hidden in a specially made toolbox, making it look like he was carrying bulky equipment.
"ID card," the guard mechanically demanded.
The counterfeit card that Xiaolin prepared lit up a green light on the scanner.
Just as the guard was about to let him through, he suddenly frowned and stared at Cheng Hai: "What happened to your hand?"
Cheng Hai's right hand, the only hand that was exposed, was twitching unnaturally.
Yu Yang had a bad feeling; Cheng Hai's control had not fully recovered yet.
“Nerve damage,” Yu Yang explained immediately, “from yesterday’s lab accident. Mr. Davidson personally approved the temporary clearance.”
The guard hesitated for a moment, and just then, an alarm suddenly sounded at the main entrance.
Everyone's attention was drawn to it.
"Now!" Cheng Hai said in a low voice, and the two quickly slipped inside.
The internal corridors were intricate and complex, but the blueprints provided by Kobayashi guided them straight to the core area.
The further you go in, the fewer guards there are, replaced by various sophisticated instruments and busy technicians.
Fortunately, most of them were engrossed in their work and had no time to pay attention to their two "colleagues".
“The launch control room is around the corner,” Yu Yang said in a low voice, “but there’s a biometric scanner at the entrance.”
Cheng Hai grinned: "Then let's change the entrance."
He pointed to the ventilation duct, “Big enough for me to crawl through. You’re in charge of creating chaos.”
Yu Yang nodded and turned to walk towards the main laboratory.
Several people in white coats are checking the final parameters of the gene bomb.
He crept closer to a sophisticated instrument, pretending to adjust settings, but actually entered a destructive code—the gene sequence interference command mentioned in his father's log.
An alarm suddenly sounded, and the data stream on the main screen scrolled wildly.
"System crash!" a technician exclaimed. "Initiate backup protocol!"
In the chaos, no one noticed that the vent cover was quietly moved aside, and a figure slipped into the launch control room.
Yu Yang took the opportunity to slip out of the laboratory and go around to the back of the control room.
Cheng Hai has dealt with the two guards inside and is attempting to disengage the launch procedure.
"A password is required," Cheng Hai said through gritted teeth, "triple encryption."
Yu Yang checked the console: "No, look here. This is the quantum interface of the previous civilization; it was mentioned in my father's logs."
He typed in a series of commands, and after the system flashed, another interface appeared. "Bingo. Now we have administrator privileges."
Cheng Hai whistled: "Did Dad give you a back door?"
“No, this is,” Yu Yang suddenly realized, “this is a backdoor for all members of Project Noah. My father is just one of them.”
They successfully stopped the launch countdown, but the system indicated that this was only a temporary measure and that Ocean Life could be reactivated from any remote terminal.
“Physical destruction is needed,” Cheng Hai said. “I’m going to the bomb bay.”
"It's too dangerous! The radiation there—"
Cheng Hai rushed towards the passageway: "My mutated tissue can withstand higher doses! You go to the council chamber and reveal the truth. This is our only chance!"
The two split up.
Yu Yang quickly moved towards the parliament hall through the maintenance passage, and Xiao Lin's urgent voice came through the communicator:
"Mori has discovered a system intrusion! He's leading his men to the central platform! Council members have assembled, but we don't have many supporters, wait—" Communication suddenly cut off.
More citizens gathered outside the parliament hall, and security forces formed a human wall to block them.
Yu Yang went around to the back of the councilor's passage, but was stopped by four guards.
"Halt! Unauthorized entry is prohibited—"
Yu Yang pulled down his high collar, revealing a prominent slit in his gills: "I am Dr. Yu Yang. If you are truly loyal to New Atlantis, let me in. The truth cannot be hidden!"
The guards hesitated.
One of them, a young female soldier, carefully examined Yu Yang: "My brother works at a deep-sea aquaculture farm. He says the ocean is dying. Can you new humans really help us?"
“It’s not about helping you,” Yu Yang looked directly into her eyes, “it’s about helping all of us. Because we are all human beings.”
The female soldier took a deep breath and suddenly stepped aside: "Go in, Doctor. But be careful, Mori's men are already inside."
The atmosphere inside the parliament hall was tense.
Dozens of lawmakers are divided into two factions and are engaged in a heated debate.
The noise stopped abruptly when Yu Yang walked in.
"Traitor!" the security minister roared. "Seize him!"
Several guards rushed forward, but more members of parliament, mainly from the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Health, blocked them.
“Let him speak!” shouted an older female councilor. “We have the right to know the truth!”
Yu Yang stood on the central podium and directly inserted Xiao Lin's chip.
The holographic projection unfolds, displaying records of human experiments on marine organisms and the audio recording.
Parliament fell silent.
“This isn’t defense,” Yu Yang’s voice echoed through the hall, “this is murder. Oceanic Biotechnology stole my father’s research, conducted illegal human experiments, and now they want to destroy all evidence—including dissenters among you.”
The security minister scoffed: "Absurd accusations! What evidence do you have that these data aren't fabricated?"
“I have it.” An unexpected voice came from the doorway.
Everyone turned their heads.
Cheng Hai stood there, soaked to the bone, his mutated left arm completely exposed, its scales shimmering under the light.
He was dragging an unconscious man—Day Ocean Bio CEO Davidson—with his right hand.
“Just captured him from his private submarine,” Cheng Hai grinned, revealing teeth sharper than usual. “He was planning to escape.”
After being awakened, Davidson quickly broke down in the face of irrefutable evidence, confessing how the ocean creature stole Noah's Ark research and how he conspired with Morris to use gene bombs to eliminate the new humans and monopolize aquatic adaptation technology.
Parliament was in uproar.
Lawmakers who supported Maurice turned pale, while the opposition demanded the immediate arrest of the speaker.
Suddenly, the entire floating city began to shake violently.
An alarm sounded: "Warning! Central platform launch silos activated! Repeat, launch silos activated!"
