Chapter 8 The Legend of Zhen Huan (7)
"Then take a sip!" Yongzheng fed Wangyou a spoonful.
Wangyou took a serious sip and then said in a very serious tone, "It really does taste better!"
"Is that so? Let me try it!" Yongzheng pulled Wangyou into his arms and kissed her. After a while, Yongzheng said, "It is indeed better. I believe it now!"
Wangyou blushed and glared at Yongzheng reproachfully, but with her face full of animalistic lust, it didn't look like she was glaring at him, but more like she was being coquettish.
"I've approved these memorials. Jiaojiao, sit here for a while. There are some storybooks you like over there!" Yongzheng said with a smile as he placed Wangyou on a soft couch.
"Oh, these are all books I like to read, thank you, Your Majesty!" Wangyou bowed formally, after all, the novels she liked to read were rather unconventional, and were normally forbidden in the imperial palace.
For example, the show "Her Majesty the Queen and Her Little Husband" that I watched before.
"Some of the storybooks here were collected by me, but most of them were recently sent to my Hall of Mental Cultivation by your father, your eldest brother, your second brother, and several of your uncles. My Hall of Mental Cultivation has been extremely popular since you entered the palace!"
Yongzheng recalled the day when Daishan brought over a box of storybooks and told him, as a father, that he did not ask the emperor to dote on his daughter, but hoped that she would not suffer any injustice. She had grown up and did not even know what injustice looked like.
The affection that the Shuyan Jueluo family showed to Wangyou was something he could only dream of in both his lives; it was a kind of love that asked for nothing in return and had no bottom line.
"Yinzhen, I'm reading a storybook. Go and review the memorials!" With something to do, Wangyou waved him away.
Yongzheng smiled and continued with his work. Thus, one was busy with official duties and the other was busy reading storybooks, and for a time, the two enjoyed a peaceful and quiet life.
After reading for an unknown amount of time, Wangyou felt her eyes getting sore and she was getting sleepy. When she looked up, she saw that Yinzhen had anger on his face, but he didn't show it because he was worried about something. He just stared at the memorial in his hand with a sullen face.
"Yinzhen, what's wrong?" Wangyou walked over and asked, wrapping her arms around her neck.
"Why did you come here? I made noise and disturbed you!"
"No, I'm just a little sleepy. I saw you were angry!" Wangyou reached out and smoothed the wrinkles between his brows. "What's bothering you?"
"I'm angry at these officials. They all cry poverty to me, they all borrow money from the national treasury. They ask me for money for everything they need to do. I just want to know where all the tax revenue went!" Although Yongzheng came early, his father's extravagance in his later years left him with huge financial holes.
"Then ask me! I have silver, lots of it!" Wangyou said with a smile. "I've been saving up my dowry since I was little, it's several million taels of silver!"
"What nonsense are you talking about? How could I use your money!" Yongzheng thought the girl was silly. What man would use his wife's dowry?
"I know how to make glass. I'll give you the recipe, and you'll get money when you make it!" Wangyou realized that using her dowry was indeed inappropriate.
"Liuli, you can make Liuli!"
"Yes, I will write it down for you!" Wangyou picked up the brush on the table and wrote down the recipe for making glass.
Emperor Yongzheng looked at the prescription in his hand, his gaze lingering on the characters. "I never expected my darling to write so well!"
"The words aren't important, the recipe is!"
"It is indeed important. I will have someone do it, and once it's done, Jiaojiao will receive half of the profits!"
"Okay, I'll keep it for you. I'll give it to you whenever you need it!" Wangyou nodded readily, without saying anything fancy, mainly because she didn't know how to say it.
"My darling is truly unconventional!" Yongzheng thought Wangyou would refuse, but then suddenly realized that this was exactly her style.
"Why didn't you make it when you were at home?" Emperor Yongzheng knew very well how profitable glass art was; if he had actually made glass art, it would have been extremely lucrative.
"It's mainly because my father, brothers, and uncles are all so capable that I don't have a chance to be of any use. Your Majesty, you don't understand. This is the joy of winning without lifting a finger!" Wangyou said smugly.
"Would you say I got a lucky break?"
"I guess so. Here's another recipe for you!" Wangyou suddenly remembered the recipe for cement, which is beneficial to the country and its people.
If this were given to her father, it would definitely bring huge benefits to his family. However, the Shuyan Jueluo family is already prominent enough, so it's better to hand it over directly to the Emperor!
As for why she didn't think of it when she was at home, it was mainly because she was spoiled by her family. Her family was also afraid that if the cement formula was revealed, her marriage would be arranged. Therefore, her family selfishly did not report it.
Now that she has entered the palace, all that happened before is just a passing cloud.
Wangyou wrote down the formula for cement. "Your Majesty, this is the formula for cement. Cement can be used to build roads, houses, and dikes. It is not only inexpensive but also extremely strong!"
"Jiaojiao, I will have someone do it!" After all, we need the experimental results first.
After thinking for a moment and finding nothing else to do, Wangyou snuggled into Yongzheng's arms and said, "I'm sleepy!"
Her voice was sweet and soft, making Yongzheng's bones melt. Looking at the little girl's sleepy eyes, Yongzheng smiled gently, "Sleep well, I'll be watching over you!"
Wangyou rubbed her eyes a couple of times, then consciously found a comfortable position and fell asleep.
Yongzheng looked at the person who fell asleep instantly, smiled helplessly, carefully placed the person on the bed, and then went to attend to his work.
First, Xia Yi was summoned, and the cement and glass formulas were given to him, instructing him to produce them as quickly as possible.
He quickly finished reviewing the remaining memorials and then went back to rest with Wangyou.
As expected, Wangyou overslept again. Yongzheng, as usual, sent someone to ask Wangyou for leave. When he returned from court, he saw Wangyou sleeping soundly with her blanket in her arms, which made Yongzheng envious.
Wangyou finally woke up around ten o'clock, washed up and got dressed, and naturally started having breakfast, treating Yangxin Hall as if it were her own home.
"Your Majesty, would you like a beautiful woman to keep you company?"
"I don't need a beautiful woman to keep me company, but I do need a little darling!" Seeing that she had finally gotten up and finished eating, Yongzheng was helpless.
However, as the number of instances of the Forget-Worry Powder increased, Yongzheng eventually got used to it.
"Jiaojiao, let's have a crown prince!" Yongzheng suddenly said, holding Wangyou's hand.
"We want a crown prince? How do we ask? If we ask, will they just give it to us?" Wangyou blinked and asked with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"We don't need to ask anyone else for this; let's ask for the crown prince!"
"How and where should we ask for it?"
"We want to have a child!"
"That wouldn't be right!" Wangyou said hesitantly. "How could we possibly take someone else's child?"
"It's not about wanting someone else's child, it's about us having a baby together!"
"How will you give birth? When will you be born?" Wangyou saw Yongzheng's face gradually darken and was successfully swayed by her.
"What I mean is that we can have a child together, without having to ask anyone else!" Yongzheng sensed something was amiss.
"Okay, but childbirth is so painful!" Wangyou felt that teasing her any further would be too much.
"I'll find the best imperial physician to help you with your pregnancy, and I'll stay with you the whole time, okay?" Yongzheng breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Wangyou finally understood, completely unaware that Wangyou was teasing him.
Looking at the atmosphere between the Emperor and Consort, Su Peisheng felt that the Emperor completely changed when he was with Consort Xian. He wondered if it was right or wrong for him to send Consort Xian to Suiyu Pavilion at Jinxi's request.
