Chapter 36 The Emperor's Favored Mad Concubine's Ramblings (5)
Chapter 36 The Emperor's Favored Mad Concubine's Ramblings (5)
The Empress's face was ruined, and she hated Zhao Zihua to the core.
If it weren't for her maternal family's high status, she probably wouldn't have been able to hold onto her position as empress.
Although the Emperor still came to see her every day, he clearly didn't want to look at her directly.
Once a woman in the imperial harem loses her beauty, no matter how talented she is, it will be of no use.
As she was feeling sad, she heard news from outside that Consort Hua had arrived.
"What is she doing here? To laugh at me?" the Queen said coldly. "I won't see her!"
“I’m already in,” Su Dingding skipped and hopped to the Empress, showing her Gangzi. “Look what I brought you!”
Gangzi grinned, his eyes widening into a perfect smile.
"what!"
The Empress was so frightened that she fell off her chair. "Consort Hua, are you trying to scare me to death?"
"People are sharing good things with you, and you're not happy about it." Su Dingding stroked Gangzi and sat down unhappily in the seat where the Empress had just been sitting.
"How dare you! Are you trying to usurp my position as Empress?" The Empress's expression suddenly changed, and she stood up.
"You like this chair? Do you want me to strap it to your butt?" Su Dingding asked seriously.
"How dare you!" The Empress trembled with rage.
If it weren't for her, how could I have ended up like this, still pretending to be crazy?
"Someone come here!"
Su Dingding placed Gangzi on the table and pulled the Empress over, saying, "No need for help, I can manage on my own."
The people outside heard the commotion inside, but they dared not move.
The Emperor decreed that Consort Hua, having lost her mind and indulging in play, shall be allowed to play freely in the palace without any obstruction.
The Empress was no match for Su Dingding. She was quickly pinned to a chair and tied up in no time.
"Stand up and walk a few steps, see how it goes?" Su Dingding asked expectantly.
"Consort Hua, how dare you humiliate me? I am still the Empress. Aren't you afraid I will complain to the Emperor?" The Empress remained seated.
"I helped you, and you still complain? Doesn't your conscience hurt?" Su Dingding asked, clutching her heart.
The Empress was bewildered; whose conscience was truly aching?
"Get up and walk a few steps so I can see, or I might get physical!" Su Dingding started rolling up his sleeves.
The Empress reluctantly dragged the chair, bent over, and struggled to her feet, taking a few steps.
"Hey, it looks like that ancient turtle!" Su Dingding laughed so hard he almost fell over.
The empress was furious and about to lash out when she tripped and fell.
Su Dingding laughed even louder and clapped her hands, "Fun, fun, let's do it again!"
She jumped onto the table and saw Gangzi again, her eyes widening in surprise, "Gangzi?"
Gangzi immediately straightened his back, grinned widely, and nodded. [Host, you've remembered me?]
Su Dingding swung his legs, looking somewhat bewildered.
She had a slight headache; her current state was characterized by alternating periods of lucidity and periods of reckless behavior.
Now she is lucid again, and memories are flooding back.
Looking at the queen lying on the ground, she smiled and had an idea.
"Someone come here! Quickly fetch the imperial physician! The Empress has fallen!" Su Dingding shouted loudly at the door.
When the imperial physician arrived, the empress had already been helped to bed. Upon examining her pulse, it was discovered that the empress was pregnant.
The Emperor rushed over upon hearing the news. Su Dingding stood to the side like a child who had made a mistake, her face full of grievance.
"emperor!"
The Empress spoke in a coquettish tone, as if even the heavens were on her side. She was pregnant at this time, and if she gave birth to a prince, she would be the future Empress Dowager!
When the time comes, crushing a mere concubine like Hua will be as easy as crushing an ant.
The Emperor never expected that after three years without any good news from the palace, the one who would become pregnant would be the Empress.
"Your Majesty..." the Empress stammered, feigning a pitiful expression as if she wanted to say something but couldn't.
Before she could complain, Su Dingding spoke first, "Your Majesty, the imperial physician just said that the Empress is more than a month pregnant. I was out of my mind and disrespectful to the Empress before, but the little prince is still safe and sound. It is clear that he is blessed and is a child of good fortune!"
"Consort Hua is right. Empress, take good care of yourself during your pregnancy. When you give birth to a prince, I will make him the crown prince." The Emperor was also very pleased.
The words the Empress wanted to say were forced back down her throat.
She glared at Consort Hua, suppressing her anger.
There's plenty of time in the future; I'll tear her to pieces sooner or later!
Su Dingding stood there with an innocent and carefree expression, seemingly oblivious to the world, grinning foolishly.
In my heart, I've already started counting down the days for the empress. Let her be arrogant for a while, so that her fall from grace will be even more painful.
Although the Emperor indulged Consort Hua, he would not stay overnight at her place, because he feared that the mentally unstable Consort Hua would kill him in the middle of the night.
So the emperor personally escorted her back to her palace, sat for a while, and then left.
In the pool, several palace maids and eunuchs were practicing horse stance. The water was up to their waists, and not only did they lose feeling in their legs, but their whole bodies began to sway precariously.
Three hours had passed, but Su Dingding had not given any instructions, so they dared not go back rashly.
If this gets out, I'll definitely be punished again!
Upon seeing the Emperor, they hoped he would stand up for them, but unfortunately, he only glanced at them before leaving.
However, if a few servants can make Consort Hua happy, their deaths are a blessing for them!
midnight.
Su Dingding was awakened by the thunder; it was raining heavily outside.
She yawned, turned over, and went back to sleep.
The few people still in the pool were in a terrible state. They were already exhausted and their bodies were stiff from the cold. When the heavy rain poured down on them, they all collapsed.
He stayed in the water all night, and by the time he was discovered, his body was already stiff.
Upon hearing this, the Empress immediately ran to the Emperor to complain.
Consort Hua is too unruly. She has repeatedly disregarded human life in the palace. If this gets out, she will completely disgrace the royal family. Where will her dignity be?
If she isn't punished, how can she, as empress, manage the harem?
The Emperor was somewhat embarrassed, but he still ordered someone to summon Consort Hua.
Su Dingding was still a little sleepy, but when she saw the empress with her scarred face and swaggering around, she knew that nothing good was coming.
"Consort Hua, I heard that you forced several palace maids and eunuchs to their deaths. Is that true?" the Emperor asked.
“He is dead, but I didn’t force him to his death,” Su Dingding replied. “When I heard cicadas chirping in the courtyard, I asked them to catch them for me. These servants made excuses and even questioned me, so I punished them by making them stand in a horse stance. His Majesty saw it.”
The Emperor coughed lightly. He had been to Consort Hua's palace and had indeed seen her.
"I punished them, but they didn't know to go back even after dark. They are so stubborn. They would rather die than let me go back. This morning, His Majesty questioned me about this. I am so wronged!" Su Dingding stomped her feet, pouted, and threw a tantrum.
"How dare you, Consort Hua..." The Empress felt confident because she believed the Emperor was in charge.
Unexpectedly, before she could even open her mouth, Su Dingding ran up to the Emperor and started whining, "Your Majesty, the Empress is mean to me, she's being mean to me..."
"I..." The Empress was stunned.
The Emperor, coaxing Su Dingding, looked at the Empress with a reproachful expression, "She's completely out of her mind right now, why are you taking her so seriously?"
