Chapter 194 The Poor Vampire is the Real Boss 17
Chapter 194 The Poor Vampire is the Real Boss 17
A blood-red full moon hung on the branches, and crows and bats stood quietly on the branches, pretending to sleep and resting, occasionally lifting their eyelids to look at the boy striding forward.
The surroundings were deserted, and the outline of the ancient castle gradually emerged from the dark clouds, slowly approaching from afar. The silver-haired, blood-eyed boy, his face tense, walked around to the fenced courtyard.
Since it was a night hunt, the area was deserted. Even if some people weren't participating, it was still work time. Brewster finally arrived at Ni Qing's room and knocked on the door.
There was no sound from inside.
He pursed his lips, slowly raised his hand, and knocked on the wooden door again with his knuckles, but there was still no sound from inside, as if no one was there.
He reached out and grasped the doorknob, turning it gently. The door opened easily. The room was dimly lit. He lifted his eyelids; no one was inside.
But he went inside anyway, trying to find some clues. The room was well-furnished, spotless, the sheets were brand new, and the blankets were neatly folded; nothing had changed.
He steadied himself. Even if Ni Qing wanted to leave, she couldn't possibly pack so much stuff all at once, could she? Besides, he wasn't late getting back; she might come back eventually.
After much deliberation, he casually approached the bedside, the scent of a young girl lingering in his nostrils. He turned around, slowly sat down on the floor along the edge of the bed, his eyes lowered, lost in thought.
The boy stood motionless, like a statue, in the same pose. After an unknown amount of time, the irritating sunlight slowly streamed through the glass.
The unpleasant light fell on his fingertips, and he almost numbly curled his fingers, looking drowsily at the sun, feeling a dense burning sensation on the places where his skin touched it.
The room remained quiet, save for the cheers of the half-vampires returning from their night hunt echoing down the corridor. The boy's face was pale, even his lips were lifeless, and his blood-red eyes were cold and indifferent, revealing nothing unusual.
He stopped waiting in the room for someone who would never return.
His silver hair obscured his gloomy eyes, and he curled his lips into a smile, a soft, mocking laugh echoing through the room.
After the night hunt ended, Ni Qing quickly found a deserted village to fend for herself. Not long after, she heard that Prince Avi of the vampire clan had died a violent death, and the murderer was still at large.
The only weapon was silver, most likely made by humans. The prince was furious after that incident and sealed off the entire castle, forcing Ni Qing to stop eavesdropping.
"Do you think my plot is correct? I accompany the male lead to adulthood and then leave. How come the second male lead is dead? What happened that night? Is Brewster alright?"
Ni Qing lay in her small room, idly asking the system questions.
103 hesitated for a moment: "If you don't have any contact with them, I don't know the specifics either, but I can tell you that the prince has actually disappeared, and the male lead has been chosen as the next heir."
The girl was silent for a moment, then stammered, "What about the female lead? How far have things progressed between them?"
For some reason, as soon as she finished speaking, she seemed to hear the system sigh: "Which step... Lina has been expelled, there is no next step."
Ni Qing: "..." Then what's the point of her leaving? In the original plot, Yavi couldn't handle the male lead, so she captured her and brought her back. Now Yavi is dead, the prince has disappeared, and the female lead has been banished. So what about her?
The plot seems to be moving further and further away from her departure from the story. What if the male lead forgets about her? Wouldn't that mean she has no chance to leave this world?
Thinking of this, she sighed softly again.
As a half-vampire, she truly couldn't adapt to human life. She feared sunlight during the day, but was full of energy at night. She couldn't eat human food, and asking her to bite people was too much to ask.
With that thought in mind, she slowly closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep. She didn't open her eyes again until sunset, intending to go outside and try her luck finding some prey.
She's been away from the castle for over a month now, and it's quite remote, so it's generally hard to spot her. At first, she was worried about revealing her location, but then she just gave up and left.
People might not even look for her. Who would look for someone who has betrayed them?
The house she lived in was surrounded by small woods, and there were hardly any people around. Vampires wouldn't come here, and half-vampires wouldn't have the chance to leave the castle to wander around.
She breathed softly, her steps quick and quiet.
She searched for a long time but couldn't find anything to eat in the woods. She hadn't eaten for a long time and was now starving.
Just as she was about to give up, a commotion arose from the depths of the woods.
Ni Qing stepped back, grabbed a branch, and nimbly climbed onto the tree. She didn't even need to get close to see what was happening over there.
A ragged man fell to the ground in a panic, his eyes filled with terror, his hair a mess as if tangled, and he retreated in fear.
Opposite him, a group of soldiers dressed in vampire uniforms looked down at him and said indifferently, "Your Highness, His Highness will be displeased by what you are doing."
Ni Qing raised an eyebrow. It was actually the long-lost prince. This "Your Highness" must be Brewster. She wondered how he managed to hide the prince so quietly in just one month.
The leader of the henchmen looked familiar; it was Amin.
She was no longer the timid woman she once was; her blood-red eyes were calm and composed, her back straight, and she acted decisively. With so many acquaintances around, Ni Qing felt a bit risky and was about to leave when Amin gave her a cold, stern look.
"Who's there!" she shouted.
As soon as she finished speaking, her men immediately surrounded her. Ni Qing wanted to leave, but she was too weak and was immediately surrounded as soon as she turned around.
When Amin saw her face, she froze on the spot: "Ni Qing, what are you doing here?"
Ni Qing smiled awkwardly: "What a coincidence, I didn't see anything. You go ahead with your work, I'll be going now."
Amin didn't give her a chance to leave, and subconsciously asked, "Where have you been for the past month? Do you know what changes have occurred in the castle?"
Ni Qing was silent for a moment, then said calmly, "What happened in the castle is none of my business. I still don't like being with vampires. You've done me a favor, so please do me another one and pretend you didn't see me today."
Amin stared at her intently and said slowly, "I'm sorry, I can't help you with this. Someone, take her away, and remember to report back to His Highness."
Ni Qing hadn't expected this turn of events, and her previously composed expression immediately crumbled. She had thought that playing the victim would get her through smoothly, but Amin didn't hesitate to take her away.
