Chapter 136 Alien Invasion 13
Chapter 136 Alien Invasion 13
Shen Ying and Su Lan studied the complex data and images on the screen while exchanging whispers.
Just then, a faint rumbling sound came from outside, and the ground began to tremble slightly.
They looked at each other.
"Whatever it is, let's prepare first." Su Lan gripped the alloy longsword in her hand tightly.
They walked out of the research institute.
A group of armored vehicles roared in, shattering the silence around the research institute.
As soon as the car came to a stop, the man in the lead jumped out. He was agile and dashing, and it was Xu Yang.
Xu Yang's gaze was as firm as a burning flame, a quality that could only be acquired through countless hardships and trials.
"Hello! I am Xu Yang." His voice was steady and powerful, carrying an inherent sense of authority.
He looked at Su Lan and said sincerely, "Su Lan, I know you are a genius biologist. The Xenomorphs have turned the world into hell. I hope you can work with me to use your wisdom and knowledge to eliminate the root of the Xenomorphs."
Upon hearing the name "Xu Yang," Shen Ying's eyes instantly lit up with joy.
She thought, "This must be the male lead, Xu Yang."
But when Xu Yang revealed his purpose, she was slightly surprised. This was different from the game's plot. Had something gone wrong?
However, this did not bother Shen Ying. Since giving up her mission to stop Su Lan from researching the aliens, she had put life and death aside and now only wanted to solve the problem of the aliens' origin, restore peace to the world, and allow Su Lan to live in a normal world.
Xu Yang's gaze swept quickly across the research institute, and the scene before him made him raise an eyebrow.
The walls were covered with deep grooves left by alien claws, and charred marks were everywhere, the imprints of energy weapon attacks.
The equipment was overturned, some still emitting pungent black smoke, and the corpses of the aliens on the ground were piled up like mountains, with blood pooling into small puddles, emitting a nauseating stench.
Looking at Shen Ying and Su Lan, Shen Ying's hair was disheveled, with a few strands clinging to her sweaty cheeks, her expression calm. Su Lan's clothes were torn, and there were several abrasions on her arms; her cool face remained expressionless.
Xu Yang couldn't help but admire them secretly. The two of them alone were able to eliminate so many aliens in such a fierce battle. It seemed that he really hadn't chosen the wrong people.
He had long heard that Su Lan was not only exceptionally intelligent and a genius biologist, but also quite formidable in combat, and even capable of developing her own weapons.
We were able to find this place thanks to the group of survivors we met at Dawn Base.
At the time, Xu Yang was somewhat skeptical of their advice, but now it seems that this trip was definitely the right one.
Su Lan looked at Xu Yang with a slightly serious expression and said in a calm tone, "Give me some time to think about it."
Then, he held Shen Ying's hand tightly; it was warm and strong. The two turned and walked toward the laboratory inside.
The laboratory was quiet, with dim yellow light casting a warm glow over the small space.
Su Lan pulled Shen Ying to sit down on the edge of the bed, her eyes full of concern as she carefully examined her.
"You're injured, you need to get it treated." Su Lan said as she opened the cabinet and took out a first-aid kit.
He gently rolled up Shen Ying's sleeve, revealing several abrasions on her arm, with some dust still clinging to the wounds.
Su Lan frowned slightly, a hint of heartache flashing in her eyes. She took out a cotton ball and gently wiped the wound.
He stared intently at the wound, wiping it carefully with every stroke, and occasionally observing Shen Ying's expression, whispering, "Tell me if it hurts."
Shen Ying looked at him, her heart warmed, and shook her head: "I'm fine. You're injured too, and you'll need to take care of it later."
After treating Shen Ying's wounds, Shen Ying took the medical kit and pulled Su Lan to sit down.
She unbuttoned Su Lan's clothes and saw the wounds on his body, including thin cuts from alien claws and bruises from collisions during the battle.
Shen Ying paused for a moment, holding the disinfectant, took a deep breath, and began to carefully treat him.
She first used tweezers to hold a cotton ball, dipped it in the medicine, and gently applied it to the thin wound. The medicine stimulated the wound, and Su Lan's muscles trembled slightly. Shen Ying quickly blew on it and whispered, "Bear with it."
After treating her wounds, Shen Ying looked up at Su Lan with a hint of doubt in her eyes: "Xu Yang has the same goal as us, which is to eliminate the aliens. Why don't you just agree to his request?"
Su Lan reached out and gently tucked a stray hair behind Shen Ying's ear, her movements natural and tender. She said softly, "I didn't refuse, it's just that we're both too tired. You need to rest too. Destroying the source of the aliens isn't something that can be done overnight, we need to slow down."
His voice was deep and gentle, carrying an undeniable concern.
Su Lan reached out and hugged her tightly. They nestled together, enjoying this rare moment of tranquility.
Xu Yang and his team carefully searched the area around the research institute and finally found a relatively safe place.
They quickly and systematically began setting up camp.
Someone unloaded a thick tent from the armored vehicle and skillfully unfolded and secured it.
The tent fabric rustled slightly in the wind. Several team members worked together to light the campfire. The flames danced in the night, dispelling some of the chill and illuminating a small area around them.
Xu Yang stood at the edge of the camp, his eyes scanning the surroundings warily like an eagle's.
His figure appeared resolute and composed in the firelight.
The others in the camp were either wiping their weapons or talking in hushed tones, everyone preparing for the next move.
Night, like a piece of black silk, gently enveloped the research institute.
In this small lounge, the dim yellow light cast a warm glow, dispelling the fear brought by the darkness.
Su Lan and Shen Ying embraced tightly as they lay on the simple yet incredibly cozy bed.
Shen Ying rested her head on Su Lan's chest, and Su Lan's arms were tightly wrapped around Shen Ying. She could clearly hear his steady and powerful heartbeat, which gradually relaxed her tense nerves.
Their hair intertwined, and their breathing became synchronized, each breath carrying a tacit understanding.
Su Lan lowered her head slightly and placed a gentle kiss on Shen Ying's forehead.
All around was quiet. Su Lan gently rested his chin on Shen Ying's head, his warm breath lingering in her ear, and occasionally soft words would escape from his lips.
Shen Ying buried her face deeper into Su Lan's arms, her arms tightening unconsciously, her body pressed even closer to Su Lan's.
The next day, Su Lan and Shen Ying stood in the dilapidated research institute, surrounded by damaged equipment, mottled walls, and the remains of alien creatures. Dust swirled in the sunlight filtering through the cracks.
Soon after, Xu Yang arrived with his core team members, and the group began their meeting in a relatively intact corner.
Xu Yang's eyes revealed his resentment towards the alien and his determination to fight to the end.
He slowly began, “The information we currently have suggests that the origin of the Xenomorphs is likely in ‘Black Rock Canyon.’ It was once a secret genetic research base, which was later destroyed and abandoned during the war. The Xenomorphs used the remaining genetic samples and the complex environment there to multiply in large numbers.”
