Chapter 241 Why be so nervous?
Chapter 241 Why be so nervous?
“You must be careful of Mo Qingcheng.” Old Master Qin said solemnly, “He has been very active in the business world lately and seems to be very interested in the Qin family. I suspect he may have some ulterior motives.”
Yu Yuetong was startled. Mo Qingcheng, her suitor in college, she never expected that he would now become a rising star in the business world.
“We will be careful, Grandpa,” Qin Reng assured him.
Stepping out of the conference room, Yu Yuetong and Qin Reng exchanged a smile. They knew a new challenge was about to begin, but as long as they worked together, nothing could stop them.
Just then, Yu Yuetong's phone suddenly rang. She took it out and her expression immediately changed.
"What's wrong?" Qin Reng asked with concern.
Yu Yuetong looked up, her eyes filled with unease: "It's a message from Mo Qingcheng. He said... he's coming to visit the Qin family."
Qin Reng frowned and gently put his arm around his wife's shoulder: "Don't worry, no matter what happens, we will face it together."
Yu Yuetong leaned against her husband and nodded. She knew that an even bigger storm was about to break.
Mo Qingcheng arrived much faster than expected.
The next morning, there was a knock on the door of the top-floor office of the Qin Group building.
"Please come in," Yu Yuetong said, feigning composure, though her palms were already sweating.
The door was pushed open, and a familiar figure appeared in the doorway. A well-tailored suit accentuated his tall and slender figure, and his angular face wore his signature smile—it was Mo Qingcheng.
"Long time no see, Miss Yu, Mr. Qin." Mo Qingcheng walked into the office with elegant steps, his gaze lingering on Yu Yuetong for a moment before turning to Qin Reng. "Gentlemen, how have you been?"
Qin Reng stood up, blocking Yu Yuetong's path, and asked in a cold tone, "Mr. Mo, what brings you here so suddenly?"
Mo Qingcheng smiled and walked straight to the sofa to sit down, his posture as casual as if he were at home. "Nothing particularly important, I just heard that the Qin family recently changed hands, so I came to offer my congratulations." He took out an exquisite gift box from his pocket and placed it on the coffee table. "It's just a small gift, nothing special."
Yu Yuetong looked at the gift warily, without touching it.
"What, Miss Yu, aren't you going to open it and take a look?" Mo Qingcheng raised an eyebrow. "There might be a surprise."
Qin Reng stepped forward: "I appreciate President Mo's kindness, but it seems unnecessary to reveal too much about Qin's internal affairs to outsiders."
Mo Qingcheng gave Qin Reng a meaningful look: "Outsider? Mr. Qin, you're being too formal. After all, Miss Yu and I are old acquaintances, so it's only right that I show concern for an old friend."
Yu Yuetong took a deep breath, walked to the coffee table, and picked up the gift box. She carefully unwrapped it, revealing a palm-sized black velvet box inside.
With a "click," the box opened.
Inside lay a jade pendant, its entire body a vibrant green, carved with lifelike dragon and phoenix patterns, radiating a warm, lustrous sheen.
Yu Yuetong recognized it at a glance as an extremely rare imperial green jade, worth a fortune. She closed the box and said calmly, "Mr. Mo is very generous; this gift is too valuable for us to accept."
Mo Qingcheng shrugged: "Miss Yu, you're too kind. It's just a small jade pendant. The Qin family is in dire need of funds right now, and this jade pendant might be able to help you out of your immediate crisis."
Qin Reng sneered: "I appreciate President Mo's kindness, but the Qin family is not so destitute that it needs help from others."
Mo Qingcheng stood up, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, and looked down at the city below: "President Qin, why be so unapproachable? I'm here to discuss a collaboration with the Qin family."
"What kind of cooperation?" Yu Yuetong couldn't help but ask.
“I have a piece of land in a prime location, perfect for real estate development.” Mo Qingcheng turned around, a smile playing on his lips. “I want to collaborate with the Qin family to develop this project together.”
Qin Reng and Yu Yuetong exchanged a glance, both seeing suspicion in each other's eyes.
"What are the conditions?" Qin Reng asked in a deep voice.
“It’s very simple.” Mo Qingcheng walked to his desk, picked up a document and handed it to Qin Reng. “I hope that the Qin family can merge the Ji Group into the Qin family as one of the conditions for cooperation.”
Yu Yuetong's heart skipped a beat. The Ji Group—wasn't that Ji Momo's family's company?
Qin Reng took the document, quickly glanced through it, and his expression gradually became serious.
"Mr. Mo, your conditions are far too harsh." Qin Reng slammed the document heavily on the table. "The Ji Group's financial situation is not good, and merging it into the Qin Group will only drag us down."
Mo Qingcheng chuckled lightly, "President Qin, don't be so quick to refuse. Although the Ji Group is currently facing some difficulties, even a weakened camel is bigger than a horse; they still have quite a few high-quality resources at their disposal. Besides..." He paused, his eyes carrying a meaningful glint, "Miss Ji and President Qin seem to have a good relationship, don't they?"
Yu Yuetong's face darkened, a surge of anger rising within her. This guy was clearly trying to sow discord!
"Mr. Mo, if you're here today to discuss cooperation, then please show some sincerity," Yu Yuetong said coldly. "Otherwise, please leave."
Mo Qingcheng looked at Yu Yuetong, a barely perceptible glint in his eyes. "Sincerity, of course I have it." He took out a folded document from his suit pocket and handed it to Yu Yuetong. "This is a draft of a marriage contract I have prepared. I hope you two will accept it."
Yu Yuetong took the document, unfolded it, and her pupils immediately contracted.
That was none other than a "marriage contract" between her and Qin Reng!
However, the contents of this marriage agreement were full of strangeness and threats.
"As long as Miss Yu and President Qin have two children within three years, whether it's a boy or a girl, I will unconditionally give that piece of land to the Qin family," Mo Qingcheng said slowly. "How about it? Isn't that a sincere offer?"
The air seemed to freeze; the office was eerily quiet.
Yu Yuetong felt a sudden, sharp throbbing in her temples, and an indescribable sense of humiliation welled up inside her. She took a deep breath, trying to remain calm.
“Mr. Mo,” Yu Yuetong handed the marriage contract back to Mo Qingcheng, her tone icy, “your joke is far too low-class. Mr. Qin and I have a completely innocent relationship, nothing more than that of ordinary colleagues, and besides…” She glanced at Qin Reng, only to find him looking at her with a meaningful gaze, and her heart skipped a beat, “Besides, Mr. Qin and I both have our own lives and plans, and the topic of having children is completely out of the question.”
Mo Qingcheng accepted the engagement, but instead of immediately putting it in his briefcase, he casually placed it on his desk, put his hands in his pockets, and looked relaxed and at ease.
“Miss Yu, why are you so nervous?” Mo Qingcheng said with a smile. “This marriage proposal is just a suggestion. Whether you accept it or not is up to you. I just want to express my sincerity.”
