Chapter 537 Shipping
Chapter 537 Shipping
When they learned that they would have a holiday after finishing this order before the New Year and would also receive a bonus, the workers were all full of energy.
Li Xiangyang and Wang Ergou were busy until late at night, carefully selecting each item.
"Xiangyang, what kind of person do you think this Hong Kong businessman is?" Wang Ergou asked while arranging the wood ear mushrooms.
"He must be a discerning businessman," Li Xiangyang thought for a moment. "The fact that he's interested in our Northeast's specialties shows he knows his stuff."
Fatty Ma added from the side, "I've heard that people from Hong Kong are particularly good at business. This collaboration with them is a learning opportunity for us as well."
The next morning, the sound of a car engine could be heard from the factory. Li Xiangyang looked out the window and saw a brand-new Mercedes-Benz slowly driving into the factory area.
"They're here!" Fatty Ma nervously wiped his sweat.
The car door opened, and a middle-aged man in a well-tailored suit stepped out, followed by two assistants, one of whom was carrying a briefcase.
The most eye-catching person was the middle-aged man. Although he was over forty, he was in good spirits and his every move exuded the shrewdness and competence unique to businessmen.
"These are Hong Kong businessmen?" Wang Ergou muttered to himself, "They seem quite formidable."
Li Xiangyang carefully examined the newcomer, thinking to himself: This person must be quite capable to be able to drive a Mercedes-Benz to Northeast China to buy mountain products.
Accompanying the Hong Kong businessmen was a section chief surnamed Wang from the Foreign Trade Bureau.
"Mr. Li, this is the Sanheshan Treasure Company that I mentioned to you," Section Chief Wang introduced.
The Hong Kong businessman's surname was Li, and his name was Li Zhihua. He spoke with a distinct Hong Kong accent. After exchanging pleasantries, the two sides proceeded directly to inspecting the goods.
Li Xiangyang displayed the samples they had carefully prepared one by one.
Li Zhihua picked up a ginseng root and examined it carefully: "This wild ginseng looks good, and it's aged enough."
He then examined the deer antlers: "The antler slices are cut very neatly, and the color is good."
"Mr. Li, please try this wood ear mushroom." Fatty Ma presented a particularly large wood ear mushroom as if it were a treasure.
Li Zhihua picked up a slice and put it in his mouth, savoring it carefully: "Hmm, the texture is indeed quite good, very chewy."
And so, from morning until noon, Li Zhihua carefully inspected each item, occasionally exchanging a few words with his assistant in Cantonese.
Although Li Xiangyang couldn't understand Cantonese, judging from Li Zhihua's expression, he seemed fairly satisfied.
"Mr. Li, Mr. Ma, the quality of your goods is indeed excellent," Li Zhihua concluded. "Regarding the price, we can discuss it in detail."
The subsequent price negotiations lasted for the entire afternoon.
Although Li Zhihua was satisfied with the quality of the goods, he was still very shrewd when it came to prices, haggling over the price of almost every item.
Ultimately, the two parties reached an agreement on some details beyond the original price, bringing the total contract amount to over 80,000 yuan.
After the Hong Kong businessman left, the entire factory was in an uproar, and everyone's face was filled with joy.
"Over 80,000!" Fatty Ma sat in his office, still somewhat incredulous. "This is the biggest order our factory has ever received!"
"Yes, that'll keep us busy for a while," Li Xiangyang said happily. "Now we need to hurry up and prepare the goods."
Wang Ergou calculated from the side, "At this price, our profit will be quite substantial. The workers are really going to get a big bonus this time."
Fatty Ma stood up: "Let's go to the workshop and tell the workers some good news!"
When the three arrived at the workshop, the workers had already gathered around them, their eyes full of anticipation.
"Everyone, quiet down!" Fatty Ma cleared his throat. "The Hong Kong businessman was very satisfied with our goods, and the contract was signed!"
The workshop erupted in enthusiastic applause and cheers.
"However!" Fatty Ma raised his voice, "we'll have to work overtime for the next two weeks!"
"No problem!" the workers answered in unison, filling the entire workshop with a highly motivated atmosphere.
Seeing the workers' enthusiasm, Li Xiangyang was deeply moved.
From hunting alone in the mountains to now leading so many people in a business, the feeling is truly different.
"Alright!" Fatty Ma waved his hand. "Everyone, put in a bit of work these two weeks before the New Year. Once we finish this deal, we'll all have a holiday, and everyone will receive double bonuses for the New Year!"
Thunderous applause erupted in the workshop once again. The workers were all eager to get to work.
And so began the busiest and most fulfilling two weeks before the Lunar New Year for Sanheshan Treasure Company.
Li Xiangyang spends every day at the factory, working alongside the workers to select, sort, and package products.
Although it was tiring, seeing boxes of beautifully packaged goods coming off the production line filled me with a great sense of accomplishment.
Wang Ergou was also busy, traveling back and forth between villages every day to buy all kinds of mountain products.
Fatty Ma was extremely busy, coordinating production, arranging transportation, and dealing with various inspections. But he was full of energy, always seemingly on fire.
Two weeks later, when the last box of goods was loaded onto the truck, everyone in the factory breathed a long sigh of relief.
"It's done! Xiangyang, this shipment will be transported by sea. Mr. Li, the Hong Kong businessman, wants us to send someone to accompany the shipment and familiarize them with the process. Should you go or should I go?"
Looking at the loaded goods, Fatty Ma finally breathed a sigh of relief, but the thought of shipping by sea and having to go through all sorts of procedures made him a little apprehensive.
“I’ll go this time. If Brother Ma wants to go, we can talk about it next time.” Seeing his attitude, Li Xiangyang knew that he was afraid of messing things up, so he took the initiative to take over.
Fatty Ma breathed a sigh of relief: "That's great. President Li said he'll arrange for someone to pick us up, and we'll leave first thing tomorrow morning."
When Li Xiangyang got home that evening, he told Li Xiaoyun about his upcoming business trip.
"How long will it take?" Li Xiaoyun asked, somewhat worried.
"I estimate it will take about a week for the round trip, plus time to familiarize myself with the shipping process," Li Xiangyang said with a smile.
"Is Dad going on a long trip?" Li Wangchen asked reluctantly.
“Yes, Dad is going to send the good things we make to a very far place.” Li Xiangyang squatted down. “After Dad leaves, Wangchen must listen to Mom.”
The next morning, as soon as Li Xiangyang arrived at the factory gate, he saw a black Shanghai-brand sedan parked there.
A man in his thirties, dressed in a neat Zhongshan suit, was standing next to the car, carrying a briefcase, looking around.
"Were you sent here by General Manager Li?" Li Xiangyang stepped forward and asked.
“Yes, my surname is Chen, Secretary Chen.” The man extended his hand. “President Li asked me to pick you up and take you to Dalian Port.”
Li Xiangyang shook hands with Secretary Chen. Although the man spoke politely, his eyes were shrewd, and it was clear that he often handled this kind of business.
"How long will it take on the road?" Li Xiangyang put the prepared luggage into the trunk.
"It'll take about five or six hours by car, we should arrive around noon." Secretary Chen started the car. "General Manager Li instructed that you accompany him throughout the trip to familiarize yourself with the shipping process."
"Secretary Chen, are the shipping procedures complicated?" Li Xiangyang asked.
As Secretary Chen drove, he said, "It's complicated in some ways, but simple in others. The main issue is the various supporting documents—from the commodity inspection bureau, customs, and the transportation company—every step has to be flawless."
"So, this batch of goods of ours..."
"Don't worry, Mr. Li is very experienced in this area and has prepared everything he needs." Secretary Chen smiled. "However, since this is the first time going through this process, we do need to be careful."
