Chapter 535 Easier to raise than expected
Chapter 535 Easier to raise than expected
Time flies, and half a month has passed in the blink of an eye.
That morning, Li Xiangyang had just gotten up when he heard laughter coming from the yard.
Looking out the window, I saw Xiaobai dragging one leg and rolling around and playing in the snow with Xiaohu.
Despite its limited mobility, it remains incredibly lively.
"This little thing is being raised quite well." Li Xiaoyun came in carrying a basin of water for washing her face.
Li Xiangyang chuckled: "Yeah, it seems they really think they're dogs."
As they were talking, Li Wangchen's voice came from outside: "Xiaobai, come here, come here!"
Li Xiangyang walked to the window and saw his son squatting in the yard, teasing Xiaobai with a piece of dried meat in his hand.
Despite her leg problems, Xiao Bai still managed to hop and skip towards Li Wangchen.
"This child, he's secretly feeding it again." Li Xiaoyun shook her head. "I told him yesterday he can't keep feeding Xiaobai meat, it'll spoil it."
Li Xiangyang finished dressing and came outside: "Wangchen, come here."
Hearing his father's voice, Li Wangchen guiltily put away the dried meat in his hand: "Dad, I just wanted to tease Xiaobai."
“Xiaobai is still young, and its leg hasn't healed yet, so it can't eat too much meat.” Li Xiangyang squatted down to be at eye level with his son. “Feeding it like this isn't good for its health.”
“But Xiaobai looks like she really wants to eat it,” Li Wangchen said, sounding a little aggrieved.
Li Xiangyang glanced at the little white dog surrounding their feet. It was staring longingly at the jerky in Li Wangchen's hand with its gray-blue eyes, its little tail wagging rapidly.
“Wanting to eat is its instinct, but as its owner, we are responsible for its health,” Li Xiangyang patiently explained. “It’s like how your mother doesn’t let you eat too much candy; even if you really want to, eating too much is bad for your teeth.”
Li Wangchen nodded in sudden understanding: "I understand, Dad. Then I won't feed it randomly anymore."
"Good boy." Li Xiangyang patted his son's head. "But you can play with it and teach it some simple tricks."
"Really?" Li Wangchen's eyes lit up.
"Of course. Xiaobai is very smart, she'll definitely be able to learn it."
Li Wangchen clapped his hands excitedly: "Little Bai, sit down!"
Xiao Bai tilted his head and looked at Li Wangchen, then at Li Xiangyang, seemingly pondering the meaning of the instruction.
"It doesn't quite understand yet." Li Xiangyang gently stroked Xiaobai's head. "Xiaobai, sit down."
As he spoke, he gently patted Xiaobai's back. Xiaobai felt the pressure and instinctively sat down.
“Yes, that’s it.” Li Xiangyang took a small piece of dried meat out of his pocket and fed it to Xiaobai. “Sit down, okay.”
Little White wagged its tail happily and ate the reward.
“I’ll try too!” Li Wangchen mimicked his father. “Xiaobai, sit down.”
This time, Xiaobai seemed to understand and sat down on her own initiative, looking at Li Wangchen expectantly.
"Wow! It really does!" Li Wangchen jumped up excitedly.
Li Xiangyang smiled as he took the jerky from his son's hand and tore off a small piece as a reward for Xiaobai.
“Training animals requires patience, and you also need to control the amount of reward,” Li Xiangyang took the opportunity to educate his son. “Too much will make them picky eaters, and too little won’t have the desired encouraging effect.”
Just then, Wang Ergou entered the yard from outside. Seeing this heartwarming scene, he smiled and said, "Oh, this little thing is really obedient."
"Uncle Er Gou!" Li Wangchen greeted him warmly. "Look, Xiao Bai can sit down now!"
"Really? Let me see." Wang Ergou squatted down. "Xiaobai, sit down."
Xiao Bai glanced at Wang Ergou, then at Li Xiangyang, hesitated for a moment, and finally sat down.
"Not bad, not bad, quite clever," Wang Ergou praised. "But you have to be careful. This little thing is a wolf after all. If it dares to bare its teeth, don't be soft-hearted; you'll have to slap it across the face."
Hearing Wang Ergou's words, Li Wangchen burst out laughing: "Haha, Uncle Ergou, you really don't need me to beat it, Xiaohu will teach it a lesson."
"That's good." Wang Ergou nodded. "Alright, then I'm relieved."
After saying this, the three of them went into the house, and Xiaobai and Xiaohu followed them in.
When Li Xiaoyun saw Wang Ergou, she greeted him warmly, "Ergou, you've come at the right time! Let's have breakfast together."
"Then I won't stand on ceremony." Wang Ergou rubbed his hands together. "Hongxia said yesterday she wanted to learn how to make your corn pancakes. Could you teach her later?"
"Of course," Li Xiaoyun said with a smile. "Actually, there's no special technique; it's just a matter of controlling the heat."
While eating, Xiaobai squatted at Li Xiangyang's feet, occasionally looking up at its owner with eyes full of affection.
"This little guy is becoming more and more like a member of the family," Li Xiaoyun said, looking at Xiaobai. "I just wonder what it will be like when it grows up."
"Let's take it one step at a time," Li Xiangyang said, picking up a piece of cornbread. "He looks pretty well-behaved for now."
Li Wangchen suddenly asked, "Dad, will Xiaobai still remember us when he grows up?"
This question startled Li Xiangyang. He recalled the look in the eyes of the alpha wolf on the mountain, a look of deep longing and reluctance.
“Yes, they will,” Li Xiangyang said firmly. “Animals have feelings too; they remember those who are kind to them.”
After the meal, Li Xiangyang and Wang Ergou began organizing their work records.
Xiao Bai lay at Li Xiangyang's feet, occasionally looking up to see what its owner was doing, before continuing to doze off.
"Look how well-behaved this little thing is," Wang Ergou said, pointing at Little White. "It really doesn't look like a wolf."
"Perhaps it's because he's lived with us since he was little that he has such a gentle personality," Li Xiangyang said as he wrote in his notes.
As they were talking, Dr. Qian's voice came from outside: "Is Xiangyang home?"
"Yes, Dr. Qian, please come in!" Li Xiangyang put down his pen and stood up to greet him.
After Dr. Qian entered the room, his gaze immediately fell on Xiaobai: "I've come to see how this little guy is recovering."
Upon hearing Dr. Qian's voice, Xiao Bai immediately became alert, but she wasn't as nervous as when they first met; she simply observed him quietly.
"Come, let me examine you." Dr. Qian squatted down and gently stroked Xiaobai's head.
Xiao Bai cooperated well with Dr. Qian's examination, and even voluntarily extended his injured leg.
"The recovery is going well," Dr. Qian nodded in satisfaction. "The splint can be removed in another week."
"Really?" Li Xiangyang asked excitedly.
"Yes, the bone is healing well, with no signs of misalignment." Dr. Qian stood up. "However, after the splint is removed, it will require a slow recovery period; strenuous exercise should be avoided immediately."
"I understand, thank you," Li Xiangyang said sincerely.
Dr. Qian waved his hand: "I already told you not to be so polite. This little guy is indeed well-behaved, easier to raise than I expected."
