Chapter 810 - Qin Shuang’s Ascension
Chapter 810 - Qin Shuang’s Ascension
After Han Wu and Qin Shuang set the five elders down, they sat beside them, waiting for them to recover.
The five elders couldn’t understand Han Wu and Qin Shuang’s intentions. The backlash had hit all five of them, and their defences were at their lowest. This was the ideal moment to finish them off, yet Han Wu and Qin Shuang made no move against them.
“Elder Tu Bie, I’ve already told you my purpose. I came to the Sealing Gate Sect to find intelligence on the Magic Sealing Wave. Can you tell me?” Han Wu asked seriously.
Elder Tu Bie glanced at the other four elders. Still mistrustful of Han Wu, the other four shook their heads in warning.
“Before that, let me ask you one question on behalf of all five of us,” Elder Tu Bie said with a sigh. “Why didn’t you kill us? You could’ve easily found the intelligence on the Magic Sealing Wave and the dragon’s seal if you had. No one would be able to stop you.”
Han Wu smiled. “Elder Tu Bie, I hold no hostility toward the Sealing Gate Sect. You’ve been good to us. I’ve kept that in mind. I only want to know about the Magic Sealing Wave. It matters to me.”
The sincerity in Han Wu’s voice led the other four elders to start believing him.
Elder Mu Xu, the strongest of the five, spoke up. “I can see the altar is broken. The dragon soul must’ve escaped the seal, but I haven’t detected it leaving the Coiling Dragon Forest. Where did it go?”
“It’s in my consciousness. I sealed it inside my body. That way, I can draw on its power whenever I need to,” Han Wu explained.
The elders’ eyes widened with genuine wonder.
“To think a human body could actually suppress the Wicked Dragon,” one of them remarked. “Truly beyond belief.”
“Could you seal more of the dragon’s body as well?” Elder Mu Xu asked.
Han Wu nodded. “I’d only benefit from sealing the dragon’s body. I trust my own strength, and you already know that I’m capable of suppressing the dragon.”
The elders almost cried. The Sealing Gate Sect had been founded to seal the Wicked Dragon, gradually weakening its power through prolonged sealing. Unfortunately, this meant the dragon’s seal required reinforcement every year, a responsibility the sect had upheld for several hundred years.
If Han Wu could completely seal the Wicked Dragon, the sect’s founding mission would be completed ahead of schedule. Every member would be free to live as they chose.
“If you can remove the threat of the Wicked Dragon from us, we’ll be more than happy to share what we know about the Magic Sealing Wave,” Elder Mu Xu proposed.
“Perfect,” Han Wu and Qin Shuang said in unison.
This was good news for the Sealing Gate Sect, but for Han Wu, it was a windfall. Absorbing more of the dragon’s body would increase his strength, and getting the intelligence on the Magic Sealing Wave would protect him and his allies from it on the battlefield. It was a win-win situation.
Han Wu took the five elders straight back to the Sealing Gate Sect without delay and absorbed what remained of the dragon’s body.
With the help of the five elders, the whole process only took three days. After centuries of sapping its energy through the seal, the Coiling Dragon Forest had actually absorbed a significant portion of the dragon’s body. Han Wu recovered only around sixty percent of the dragon’s original strength.
Veritas’s strength returned to roughly seventy percent of its peak thanks to the unification of body and soul. Feeling the change, it immediately crashed into the bars of its cage inside Han Wu’s consciousness.
Han Wu immediately knew what Veritas was attempting. Having regained its strength, it felt bold enough to test whether it could break through the bars and escape. In response, Han Wu released his presence and pinned Veritas flat to the cage floor, then opened the Feral Beast’s cell and let it chew on Veritas’s body.
When the Feral Beast saw its cell door open, it felt an overwhelming urge to make a run for it. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The Coiling Dragon Forest was more than expansive enough to hide in.
As the Feral Beast was entertaining these thoughts, it caught Han Wu’s eyes, and all thought of escaping vanished. Han Wu’s expression said everything it needed to know. Some things weren’t just forbidden in action but in thought as well. The consequence could well be one’s life.
Unable to defy Han Wu, the Feral Beast could only walk into Veritas’s cell as instructed and, following Han Wu’s directions, take bites out of Veritas. Veritas howled in pain and rage, but even so, it dared not curse Han Wu. It could only curse the Feral Beast.
Basking in the pleasure of pushing around a being stronger than itself, the Feral Beast bit with increasing enthusiasm until it could not stomach another mouthful and sat back satisfied. Meanwhile, Veritas needed time to recover and had no energy left to resist in the short term.
Han Wu finally removed his pressure. “Feel free to try escaping at any time. Don’t worry. I won’t kill you. I’ll just bring you to the edge of death.”
Veritas trembled. Han Wu was far more suited to the title of Wicked Dragon than it was.
With the matter of the dragon’s seal resolved, the Sealing Gate Sect showed Han Wu and Qin Shuang the intelligence on the Magic Sealing Wave as promised.
Based on the sect’s classified records, they learned that the Magic Sealing Wave was the most powerful sealing technique in the Sealed Civilization—a fifteen-Ring Seal Art!
No Seal Master was powerful enough to use it without limitations, so all circulating examples of the Magic Sealing Wave were manufactured as physical objects. However, it was difficult to produce, so the number of these objects in circulation was not large.
Fortunately, the Magic Sealing Wave wasn’t infallible. With its creation came the development of a counter, called the Magic Seal Breaker. Unlike the Magic Sealing Wave, which was too powerful to be used freely, the Magic Seal Breaker was highly specialized and targeted only the Magic Sealing Wave. This meant its Ring rating sat at a relatively low ten Rings.
The records also clearly noted which faction had documents on the Magic Seal Breaker. As gratitude for Han Wu’s help to the Sealing Gate Sect, the five elders used the sect’s name to source the Magic Seal Breaker for Han Wu and Qin Shuang. They only needed to wait a few days for it to arrive.
Han Wu was glad to take the time off. He and Qin Shuang spent those days in the Coiling Dragon Forest hunting lightning-attribute magical beasts, sealing each one into Qin Shuang’s consciousness with the Four Guardians Seal. After absorbing many lightning-attribute Seal Arts, she successfully deepened her understanding of the Lightning Jurisdiction and officially ascended to Major God.
Within the Sealed Civilization, however, this was not marked as a Major God breakthrough but instead a process to upgrade herself from a nine-Ring to a ten-Ring Seal Master. Upon reaching ten Rings, Qin Shuang absorbed the power of the Sealed Civilization’s Law and gained a passive seal-type ability called the Thunderseal Edict.
Whenever Qin Shuang released a lightning-attribute attack, there was a 1% chance it would trigger the Thunderseal Edict effect on the target and randomly seal away a portion of their strength.
While the percentage itself wasn’t high, this ability ignored the difference in strength between the two parties entirely. Regardless of whether Qin Shuang fought a Divine Being or a God King, the trigger chance remained at 1%. That was a lot of leeway, and Han Wu was genuinely curious about what it would look like when Qin Shuang used this ability at full intensity.
