Chapter 1276 Agent Judy
Chapter 1276 Agent Judy
But that doesn't quite make sense, does it? It's not that Tang Tang trusts Reginald that much, it's just that Reginald is hosting this banquet tonight...
He must have screened the guests; there couldn't possibly be any of his enemies among them. As for the waiters... it would be someone who had to be reduced to working as a waiter to get in and take revenge on Reginald...
Tang Tang thought it was unlikely. Reginald was a vengeful old man; anyone who offended him usually met a bad end. Anyone he could touch was probably already dead.
So who is it?
Clearly, Tang Tang wasn't the only one wondering about this; others were also pondering it.
Alexander looked at Tang Tang, then at Esther, and then a meaningful yet smug smile appeared on his face. He said in a sarcastic tone, "Oh, how terrible! There are such vicious criminals! I wonder if Reginald is in any danger?"
Esther frowned and said, "Who knows... the banquet can no longer continue."
Tang Tang wanted to click her tongue.
To be honest, Reginald's unexpected event also affected her plans. She had originally wanted to expand her social circle at this banquet.
Although Alexander was present and Tang Tang had already toasted with quite a few guests, they were ultimately just a minority.
Thinking of this, Tang Tang was somewhat annoyed, but soon, several FBI agents and SWAT officers arrived.
The leading FBI agent was a capable woman, probably around twenty-five or twenty-six years old. Tang Tang had never seen her before, didn't know her identity, and didn't know if this agent had heard of her when she went to the FBI before.
The female agent quickly introduced herself to everyone.
“Hello everyone, this is Judy Hopps,” Agent Judy said to the group. “I’m sorry to take up some of your time, as you are the first witnesses at the crime scene, and the FBI needs to take your testimony according to procedure.”
The FBI and SWAT teams worked together and quickly took control of the entire banquet hall, finding suitable empty rooms for one-on-one questioning.
Since Tang Tang and her group were the first to see the crime scene, including the screaming waitress, they were all questioned and their records recorded one by one by Agent Judy.
Now that things had come to this, Tang Tang wasn't in a hurry anymore. Anyway, she didn't have anything urgent to do, so she simply sat on the sofa with Edwin, somewhat relaxed, and waited.
The waitress was the first to be questioned, followed by Alexander and Esther, who were rivals of Reginald.
Tang Tang and Edwin arrived last.
While the others were being questioned, Tang Tang sat with Edwin, watching the many guests who had been forced to stay, and said softly, "Who do you think did it?"
“Not quite sure,” Edwin said, using his incredibly intelligent mind to analyze each possibility logically, but ultimately he ruled out every single one.
“According to the principle of suspicion of interest, the suspects are naturally Alexander and others, but they have no reason to do so.”
Noah Holdings, which has become the number one biopharmaceutical company in the US, is by no means a fragile work of art. Even if Reginald were to die, Noah Holdings would at most experience a brief period of turmoil before a new leader is appointed.
Alexander and Esther had no chance of taking over Noah Pharmaceuticals, so they had no need to take action against Reginald.
"That's really strange," Tang Tang chuckled. "Actually, I have another idea."
Edwin looked at Tang Tang with some curiosity, "What are you thinking?"
“Either there are things we don’t know about this matter, such as Reginald’s past relationships, or revenge for someone he secretly offended… These hidden things might be the answer, then this matter has nothing to do with us.”
It was purely Reginald's bad luck; it had nothing to do with all their analysis.
Tang Tang smiled again, then said thoughtfully, "But there's another possibility: if we can't deduce the result from normal logic... maybe the truth is completely illogical?"
Edwin raised an eyebrow slightly. "Illogical?"
“Yes, it doesn’t make sense,” Tang Tang said. “Some people don’t need reasons or logic to do things, right? Just like those indiscriminate killers, what logic do they have in choosing people? Maybe they just close their eyes and grab someone at random.”
Although this speculation is absurd, the world is indeed absurd, and the United States is an even more absurd country.
No one could imagine that in New York, above ground lies the world's most prosperous city, but just one level above, in the sewers, live countless homeless people, who die in the sewers.
Above ground and underground are separated by only one road. The world's richest man may be walking on the ground below, while a homeless person is staring at him with wide eyes.
Isn't this absurd enough?
Given how absurd this American forum is, it's theoretically quite normal for all sorts of illogical people to appear.
“I think you’re right,” Edwin said. “Ever since I was old enough to understand, I’ve felt that America is a deformed country, a country where you have to pay to survive, and even breathing costs money.”
Money breeds countless desires, desires bring life and death, countless corpses pile up to create capital, and countless capitals pile up to create the Americas.
So America is actually a country piled up on top of countless corpses; it is a larger, rotting corpse, held together by piles of corpses, rolling forward.
Just as Tang Tang said, it's utterly absurd.
……
"Hello, Miss Nicoletta Newkman, please have a seat."
Tang Tang sat down and smiled slightly at Agent Judy. "This scene does seem a bit familiar—after all, I visited the FBI not long ago."
Agent Judy paused slightly, looked at Tang Tang and said, "Oh... about Professor Sterling? I do know about it. I didn't expect to meet you here again, Miss Newkman."
“Speaking of which, it’s quite a coincidence,” Agent Judy suddenly smiled, then looked at Tang Tang and said, “Don’t you think so, Miss Newman?”
Tang Tang raised an eyebrow slightly, a nonchalant smile on her face. "Yes, I didn't expect it either. Maybe it's because I have a connection with the FBI?"
“Or maybe it’s because…” Tang Tang looked up at Agent Judy across from her, her tone flat, “I’ve been having a lot of bad luck lately? Maybe I should go to church and attend some services, maybe that will get rid of my bad luck.”
Not only Judy thought it was too coincidental, but Tang Tang thought it was too coincidental as well.
