Chapter 609 The Gathering of Wandering Knights

Chapter 609 The Gathering of Wandering Knights

In the middle of the abandoned city of No. 59, in the Ranger Camp, inside the wooden house.

A round table was placed in the center, and a dozen or so Aomori Rangers sat or stood around it.

"Wandering Sword Immortal" Gu Qinian (Sword-leaf Dragon Blood Tree Plant Spirit), "Gray Bow" Spruce (Spruce Archer Plant Spirit), "Explosives Expert" Alfred (Mulberry Explosives Plant Spirit), "Ferocious Beast" Kelsys (Giant Mouthflower Plant Spirit)...

Those attending this meeting were all veteran rangers with unique titles who had served as "Hunters".

Qu Shounan (Tree Spirit Guardian Plant Spirit) and Ye Qing (Vegetable Question Plant Spirit) were also among them. The former was slightly less famous, but was still qualified to participate in the meeting. The latter, on the other hand, benefited from the influence of her older sister and stood quietly behind Kelsais.

It's worth mentioning that among the wanderers present, there was also a homeowner from the War Courtyard, Situ Shaowu, who came from Courtyard No. 5918.

He excitedly looked around, his gaze sweeping over the faces of wandering knights he had only heard of in rumors, and he could hardly hide his excitement.

"Quiet."

A deep, steady male voice suddenly rang out, and all the noise inside the wooden house immediately disappeared. The group of wandering knights present all fell silent, and then all turned their gazes to that figure.

"Azure Arrow Shadow" Kerberon, an oak archer with eighth-tier plant spirit power, is one of the most famous legendary rangers.

The call to arms for rangers issued from Zone 59 was actually made by Kerberon.

Standing at the head of the round table, Kerberon looked around, his gaze lingering on the faces of the rangers.

His gaze lingered on Situ Shaowu for a moment, then subtly shifted away, as if he had only glanced at him casually.

"My fellow wanderers on the path of chivalry, you must already know that I issued this summons."

Kerberon spoke slowly, his voice loud and powerful: "Perhaps some of you do not yet know why I issued this summons."

He paused, his fingers gently stroking his oak longbow, as if recalling something: "A few weeks ago, when I was temporarily staying in the metropolis with a few fellow rangers, I discovered traces of the Redemption Path members."

These words instantly turned the relaxed atmosphere into tension, as if the air itself had frozen, before being torn apart by the varied reactions of the group of wandering knights.

Gu Qinian had been standing quietly in place, but upon hearing this, his fingertips twitched slightly, causing the longsword at his waist to emit a crisp ringing sound.

As his gaze grew sharper, his posture subtly changed as he placed one hand on the hilt of his sword, ready to strike.

Spruance suddenly gripped the composite bow in his hand, his eyes lowered so that no one could see the emotions churning within them.

But the taut jawline still betrayed the turmoil in his heart.

Alfred was playing with the hand grenade he had made himself when he heard Kerberon's story and almost dropped the "little gadget" in his hand.

He quickly grabbed the grenade, his smile vanishing and replaced by intense excitement and fighting spirit.

Kellseth snorted coldly, her body emanating a suffocating sense of oppression, making no attempt to hide her disgust for the Path of Redemption.

She stood on tiptoe, placed her small hands on the table, and stared intently at Kerberon, waiting for the legendary ranger to tell her the whole story.

Situ Shaowu clenched his fists instinctively, his nails almost digging into his flesh.

He knew of the infamous reputation of the Redemption Path and was well aware of the wickedness of their crimes, enough to attract so many wandering knights to gather here and prepare for a rare "great hunt".

"I traveled with several fellow Rangers, tracking these members of the Redemption Path to Zone 59, but they discovered us on the way and attacked us."

Kerberon pointed his finger heavily to a spot on the map: "Right here, we were ambushed. The enemy sent several officers, and we were outnumbered. We had to retreat temporarily, but two young comrades still died heroically in the process."

Upon hearing this news, the rangers were all dumbfounded. It was simply unbelievable that there had been casualties even with the legendary ranger personally leading the team.

“They were numerous and had many kidnapped women and children with them, so we couldn’t act freely.”

Kerberon's voice lowered, filled with deep apology and guilt: "This was my mistake. Those two children should not have died here."

The cabin was deathly silent, save for the increasingly heavy breathing of the group of wandering knights.

"Those damned human traffickers!"

Spruance slammed his fist on the table, causing a section of the solid wood surface to dent: "Disgusting! Ugly! Utterly despicable!"

"despicable?"

Alfred let out a short, cold laugh, tossing the grenade he had almost dropped in his palm: "No, Spruces, they're not despicable, they're shrewd. In the chaos of war zones, human life is the least valuable thing, especially unarmed civilians. Those scum are sure we won't sacrifice innocent lives to wipe out a few bastards."

He raised an eyebrow, a cruel smile curving his lips: "But if they think they can rest easy because of that, they're sorely mistaken. My bombs don't have eyes, and they can't always be precisely controlled."

"You bomb-wielding idiot, shut the hell up!"

Kelssy rolled her eyes at Alfred, summoned several vines, and slammed them heavily on the table: "If you really blow up innocent people, let's see how you explain it to the parents who lost their children!"

The demolition expert shrugged and silently put away his grenade; he certainly wouldn't do anything that crossed the line.

"That is why I issued a call to action, inviting everyone to come and participate in this unprecedented large-scale hunt."

Kerberon drew a bright green arrow from his quiver and planted it heavily on the map.

"You're right, senior."

Gu Qinian, who had remained silent all along, suddenly spoke up: "We must completely eliminate this group of scum from the Redemption Road, and at the same time rescue all the hostages they have kidnapped, without leaving a single one unharmed."

"But it's easier said than done."

Qu Shounan sighed heavily: "The other side has several cadres in charge and a lot of manpower, but what about us? We don't even know where they are hiding. If we act rashly, we may not only fail to rescue them, but also get ourselves killed."

His voice wasn't loud, but it was like a bucket of cold water, extinguishing the warriors' fighting spirit.

"Can't find it? We'll keep looking!"

Situ Shaowu suddenly spoke, his voice trembling slightly, but more so with determination: "We must search even if we can't find them! They still need to eat, drink, and relieve themselves, they still need to contact the outside world, and they will always leave traces in this abandoned city!"

The wandering knights present were all taken aback and turned to look at the young homeowner.

"What brilliant idea do you have, kid?"

Kelseys raised an eyebrow, looking Situ Shaowu up and down, her tone tinged with suspicion.

"If they're not on the surface, they're probably underground. I remember there's a subway hub in the northwest part of City No. 59, which would have been considered a huge hub in terms of passenger flow even in the old days."

Situ Shaowu's voice wasn't loud, but it was like a pebble thrown into stagnant water, creating ripples in the originally oppressive wooden house.

He took a deep breath, trying to calm his wildly beating heart, and forced himself to look directly into Kerberon's eyes, which seemed to see right through people.

“Senior Cangcui Arrow Shadow, if there is a hidden underground stronghold on the Path of Redemption, then I would say that this subway hub is their best choice!”
